The wingers/attacking midfielders currently in the squad are heavily weighted to preferring playing from the left after losing bale and lamela, leaves us with only Lucas who prefers the right wing ;), Madueke’s versatility could be really useful in addressing this

Son is equally good on the right and genuinely 2-footed. A few seasons ago he regularly cut in from the right and curled a left footer into the far post.

For UEFA comps, it's 3 seasons between the ages 15 and 21 to be home grown. I think Premier League is the same but not 100% sure.

It doesn't have to be 3 continuous seasons, and the cut-off is the end of the season during which the player turns 21.

If we were to sign him this summer, the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons would both count towards the 3 years. So, as long as he already had 1 season in our academy above the age of 15 before leaving, he could qualify as home grown in time for the 2023-24 season.
In UEFA competitions, there's also a rule that a U21 player who has been at the club for two years is exempt from registration. I don't think (but I don't know for sure) there are any age restrictions there, so effectively he would count as a U21 player until the day he gets his HG status.

In the PL, any U21 player is exempt.

If he's potentially good enough for Dortmund then he's definitely good enough for us. He would be perfect cutting in from the right-hand side.

I just hope it's not a classic example of someone we wished we bought in 12-18 months' time.

Well, we could sell Clarke to raise some funds if we want Madueke. Seems pointless to have both.

Great call. Clarke is nowhere as composed or confident as Madueke. Selling him for Noni would be smart business.

We’d get about 3 million for Clarke, Madueke will be £20m at least

Jack Clarke was such an odd buy in hindsight.

We've never really given him a proper run in the first team and he's struggled to perform out on loan. I hope he makes it with us, but it's all looking a bit strange with him atm.

Jack Clarke was such an odd buy.

It’s not so much the buy, but loaning him back to Leeds was a massive mistake. Compounded by two fairly poor loans last season as well. We should be taking punts on young talent, it’s served us well in the past. But this hasn’t worked out really.

Noni wont come to replace clarke, he left our academy to pursue a first team player spot as quick as possible and the path at spurs was a bit chokablock ... hes not coming back to be a reserve of the bench players like clarke is. Only way noni makes sense if some like bergs is sold, not a guaranteed starter every match but some who will get atleast circa 20 games from all competitions....

Think he makes sense regardless of anyone being sold tbh. All our wingers besides Lucas are better off the left. We could do with someone who can play off the right. Lamela and Bale have gone with only Gil arriving so I’d say there’s a spot for a right winger to come in.

Almost all of his goals in his highlights are from outside the box, love that. I would definitely say buy, to bed in this year off the bench and in the conference league. Lucas will probably move on this next Summer I'd imagine, so again would fit with the rebuild.

Why not buy Madueke and loan them Clarke as part of the deal. Or, sell him in exchange with a buyback clause in case it all happens again

Much better idea - for the price we'd get for Clarke, we'd be better off giving him a chance to come good

Psv are going for titles and playing CL I think, doubt Jack Clarke who is probably currently top L1 or lower championship quality will excite them

He wont come if he is not convinced (convinced being a very key word here) of a greater starting role e.g. 20 games atleast from all competitions, the club knows this aswell as they didnt want him to leave the academy but his reasoning behind his decision to leave was clear so they will understand this key point.

They took a player that failed to make it from our youth and he did alright. There are plenty of players in the Dutch league and others that didn't look like they would make it in the UK and then have built a career

He was highly rated and not "didn't make it". He refused to sign pro terms with us. He believed then PSV has a better pathway for youth players to the first team.
