Colchester United celebrate another goal at Carrow Road

Norwich slumped to a huge defeat as Bryan Gunn's Championship return bid began in utterly disastrous fashion.
Keeper Michael Theoklitos missed his punch to hand Kevin Lisbie Colchester's first, and Clive Platt finished into an unguarded net three minutes later.
Platt got a second at the back post, David Fox curled in a free kick, Lisbie headed another, David Perkins scored a volley and Scott Vernon tapped in.
Cody McDonald converted a flick-on for Norwich but angry fans confronted Gunn.
Colchester had bagged five goals by the 40th minute, by which time Norwich supporters were already heading for the exits.

Yes this has been totally degrading and must rank as the worst result ever...BUT can we please take time to calm down and think about it

The away side could even have stretched their lead further in the second half, before McDonald's consolation from Grant Holt's flick.
Two Norwich fans ran onto the pitch after Colchester had made it 4-0 and threw their season tickets at Gunn before being ejected.
The result was the worst home defeat in Norwich City's 107 year history.
Norwich manager Bryan Gunn told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"I don't think I can explain it, it's very disappointing that we're standing here on the back of a 7-1 defeat.
"You sit in the dressing room, you scratch your head and wonder why it's got to that stage.
"We can look back on every goal and say there was mistakes, we just didn't apply ourselves right in the first 20 minutes.
"We've got 45 games to go in League One, we need to make sure we never see a performance like that again."
Colchester manager Paul Lambert told BBC Essex:
"It's the best I've seen in years. I thought we were sensational. Winning 7-1 was a phenomenal performance.

"I wasn't going to come here and sit back. Our performance was absolutely unbelievable.
"The front two were brilliant. Lisbie has been a top player for years and is a massive signing for us and Platty has been brilliant in pre-season.
"You never rest at half-time because you think 'if we score five in a half then so can they'."

Yeah I was going to go to this game, gutted I didn't, gave up my season ticket this year as I'm moving to London to go to Uni.

This game was an absolute farce, Norwich's new keeper looks ridiculously shit, they should have kept Joe Lewis (sold to P'boro for £400k) or even play young Declan Rudd (he's 18 but has played for the England youth sides). Norwich have got a habit of producing young keepers, if you include Rob Green, who has caps for England, Joe Lewis, who got in an England squad whilst playing for Peterborough, and Declan Rudd who's been in all the youth sides.

Also, they shouldn't have played Doherty and Nelson at CB, they're clearly far too slow, and Jon Otsemobor has to keep covering for them both. The Doc had a mare yesterday in all honesty, and I say that as his biggest fan, but he still wasn't as bad as Nelson.

The board better stick by Bryan Gunn because they took about a week to ponder their decision to keep him and it was in the papers and on the news etc. (absolute circus).

Delia could have sold to a local businessman last January who said he'd invest £20m on players and clear the debt, but wasn't offering Delia enough money so she refused to sell for some reason.

Alnwick to start the next game?

Gunn is equally as inept as a manager as Alan Shearer, tactically he's hopeless, and his appointment was one for the fans, though it is never going to work. Norwich have done the right thing this year by signing up full time professionals rather than coping with a squad half full of loanees, but they've purchased a heap of shite.

They should have appointed Aidy Boothroyd, who started his coaching career at Norwich. Living in Norwich I've seen some bad performances but this was abysmal.

I'm ashamed to admit I put this in a bet yesterday!

I had a free bet with bet365 and Norwich were one of the teams I put in it!

Well I guess that is scraping the barrel to find a positive in losing 7-1. It must be fate!
