A true Spurs legend. Those saying otherwise must have some sort of warped view on the last 15 years of Spurs history.

His name ranks up there with Klinsmann, Sheringham and Ginola.

Robbie Keane took us out of the dark and into the light. He cared about Spurs - a helluva lot. And it took a lot for him to come back with his tail between his legs.

He'll always have Spurs in his heart - and he'll always have a place in mine. What other players have scored over 120 goals for our club and are not classified as legends?

I know the word is used a lot these days - but Keano is truly that. And there will only ever be one.

A modern day legend

6 years at one club in this modern game of football???

The guy will go down in history

100+ goals too for Tottenham Hotspur

All the best Keano, they will only ever be one...

Sol Campbell - 9 yrs with Spurs - goes down in history too and will never be forgiven by many.

Would he have been considered a legend if things had turned out differently and he had gone to another club for a reasonable transfer fee? Of course he would.

Pat Jennings who went to the Scum due a very bad error of judgment as he was still superbly fit and able, and should have stayed with us for much longer, has never been ostracised as far as I'm aware and is still much loved by most Spurs supporters and is undoubtedly a Spurs legend.

It all hinges on the nature of the leaving and whether it's considered to be a betrayal.

he was good for us and we were more then good for him. He should appreciate us more. He done the dirty on us and we still were stupid enough to take him back

:duh:

Ramos wanted control and Keane out.

Levy wanted the money.

The Liverpool owners wanted Keane.

Keane wanted to play for the club he supported as a kid.

Keane starts to click at Liverpool, but Rafa wants to win battle with owners so drops Keane despite his goals against Arsenal and Bolton - not surprising since Keane was never Rafa's man and Rafa was fighting with the owners.

Spurs are still in the relagation zone.

Keane returns to Spurs - making Spurs £7 million profit cancelling out the £7 million loss due to Defoe's transfers.

Keane helps Spurs up to a Champions League 4th place.

Keane organises golf & a few pints trip to Dublin which ends with the lads (not Keane) dancing on nightclub tables - Keane takes the flak.

Keane dropped from 1st choice striker.

Keane joins Celtic scoring 17 goals but fails to deliver trophy.

Spurs no longer have the top scoring team of strikers in England as they had during the tag team years of Defoe/Keane.

And the winners are : West Ham - damn. .:bang:.... I was looking forward to seeing them relegated. There's a good chance Keane will click again and score 10 crucial goals for them to keep them up.

Legend:

a. An unverified story handed down from earlier times, especially one popularly believed to be historical.
b. A body or collection of such stories.
c. A romanticized or popularized myth of modern times.

Well, whether you believe or not, Robbie was a big part of the Spurs story in our time and he'll be remembered by us all for whatever reason. Good luck Keano, relatively speaking, and thanks for the memories and goals

As ever, I wholeheartedly agree with you both, so much so that I don't think I have words to add to what you've said (that's right, you've actually shut me up). What I will add though, is this:

Chokes me up every bloody time!

Top lad and an excellent servant to the club. Hope he goes on to have another good few years in the Premiership. Cheers Keano.

I'm not going to get involved in the old argument, because i have done it to death along with many others and to be honest it's boring now.

I just want to say, Thankyou Robbie. You are a Spurs Legend. You just have to be, how can you not be? 120 goals for the club, it speaks for itself dowsn't it.

Thankyou for the goal against Chelsea, thankyou for the goal against Blackburn, the tens of other wonderful gaols that you scored, and the not so wonderful. Thankyou for the 2 fifth place finishes, thakyou for the Carling Cup win. Thankyou for coming back when it must have been bloody hard to do so, and helping get away from the relegation scrap, that we were almost certainly in. Thankyou for your bit part in helping us acheive Champions league qualification for the first time in our history.

Thankyou Robbie for being a major player in getting the football team that I love back on the football map again, after soo many horrible years in the wilderness.

Loving that vid by the way BBLG

Great servant too the Club and produced his fair shair of magical moments....never a real Tottenham legend in my eyes though. Once he moved to Liverpool he sealed his fate in that respect IMO. Was perhaps on course to be and I dont begrudge the fact that he wanted to move to boyhood Club - but a legend after all that? Not for me.

I wish Robbie all the best though.

There's strong circumstantial evidence that 'World Class Manager' Juanque Ramos forced him out

The latter part of 07-08 he was continually subbed and Berbatov left on, even when the Bulgarian was doing fuck all (which he did more and more as the season went on). We also had a lot of ITK that Juanque didn't think most of the squad, including Keane, was good enough, and wanted a wholesale clear-out in the summer; I'm very cynical about ITK, but this was consistent and was borne out by events. Juanque certainly drove Defoe out (that was from Bradley Allen, no less) and had past form at Sevilla with Kerzhakov and Chevanton. We also had Robbie's 'I'll stay at Spurs as long as I'm happy and feel wanted'. Would he have added that proviso if he had felt happy and wanted?

Circumstantial, as I say, but credible enough for me to give him the benefit of the doubt. Whatever nicdic claims about NOTW's Liverpool sources, Robbie was tapped up by a prominent Liverpool player at his stag do and did not make an approach to Liverpool.
