When the appointing of Mourinho appeared to be done in a heartbeat, why do the negotiations for all these other managers seem to be so drawn out?

If you read his philosophy both how he sets his teams without the ball to nick the ball back from the opposition and break quickly or with the ball shift It around quickly so the opposition cant settle, he could play some great stuff with the right players. According to Poch he loved watching his teams....
Mauricio Pochettino on Espirito Santo and his Wolves side in 2018
"Wolves are a very good team, one of the best teams I like to watch the most.
"They have a very good squad, good player, great manager and I think they are doing a great job there. It is going to be tough, it was tough the game we played a few months ago.
"I know Nuno very well, he spent one day here [after leaving Valencia], the whole day talking with us. I have a very good memory and he is doing a fantastic job."

It's hard as we are trying to piece things together from the outside.

My understanding is Levy had been very keen on Jose as manager for a long time. I guess the timing just aligned. Poch getting fired at a time that Jose was available after a break.

Right now, I honestly don't believe we know what we want. We appear to be interviewing lots of people. The negative side of me thinks this is because we don't know what we want or have a plan. The positive side thinks we are giving multiple candidates a chance to apply and we will hire based on the strength of the applicant rather than a preconceived idea.

Ultimately, all that matters is that we hire the right man.

Which we won't.

I always believed it could’ve been this fella or Martinez everything else was a smokescreen. Nuno was dismissed and I was ridiculed because people believed Tottenham deserve better. I he’s probably at our level and the sooner we accept that the sooner we can move forward Martinez is not out the picture Belgium get beat today he will be our man I’m sure of it. IMO .

Why make multiple smokescreens making us look like fools over and over again. Why not just employ Santo or do nothing and wait for Martinez?

Why pay to get contracts drawn up for Fonseca if it was all just a smokescreen?

Why push supporters to a point where they are not taking up season tickets and cancelling memberships by constantly leaking name after name if they are just smokescreens?

It just makes no sense on any level.

Realistically we were never in the running for the people we spoke with unless they accepted our financial terms which people as Conti were never going to do. As a manageress club we have to be seen to be trying and every approach was genuine but frangible.
Right form the beginning there was an article that suggested Martinez, after the euros will talk terms. Nuno is a possible but I feel Tottenham are playing us all. Offer Nuno, then Matinez doesn't seem too bad. Tottenham have created this whole narrative to accommodate a coach which may not have sat well with supporters directly after Jose's disappointing spell. Conti was just a season ticket carrot.

I don't believe we've looked like fools. No one else really cares about our coach issues. The press will print it and then its chip paper. Once a coach is appointed we move on and the past is written off.
