Congrats on the book, it's a great achievement!

Can we try and organize a pub get together with MJ? Should take him a while to drink 35,000 pints, bet he's a fantastic drunk lol

hi, i don't suppose you know someone called john ally, who is a huge spurs fan.

I don't see why he would more than any one else. His first name is Ally, surname is Gold. Alisdair I think.

I have just finished reading Ode to Jol and although my opinion as a Spurs supporter since 1958 counts no more than any other Spurs supporter I do have a slight edge as a professional editor of many years standing.

As a Spurs supporter I say it’s great, as an editor I say it has polish, it has been drawn together the way only an acute observer of human behaviour can, it’s characterisation is solid and very real. This is a book that will still be around when people say “I have been a Spurs supporter since 2005â€.

A book so obviously written by somebody who is Spurs to the very core.

A bloody good read.
You'll find your comments prefacing his next edition!!!

I don't I'm afraid, and as Ray says Gold is my surname  And it's Alasdair, Mr Shady.

Any news on sales? Made your million yet?

I wish. I get a tiny fraction of the price of a sale. Will know more about sales after Christmas. From what I can tell its sold a few thousand so far.

Enjoyed the tomed immensely. Look forward to the next. will it be Spurs related, or a new subject entirely?

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm working on two new projects. One Spurs related and one fictional. Depends which one pans out the best.

Hi Ricky ! Yes mate - me too. The missus reluctantly got me it for Xmas - she is bored of my obsession as it in when I wake up - Cefax, page 338 to see what news there is - get papers, see what news there is - go to all home games - go to some away - travel over seas for games - and now..... I have Spurs in bed as well ! :)

My girlfriend bpught me the book for xmas and i haven't stopped laughing since.

Its awesome, I now use it as evidence every time that spurs lose and i don't talk for two days afterwards that i'm not the only one who is walking round with a scowl on my face!

Finally got it.

Been trying to read it as regularly as possible. The bit with Andy Reid and YP Lee's fish fingers had me in hysterics!

Got the book for my birthday recently..sums up the insanity, passion, joy and lows of following Spurs.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the bit where you were desperate to find a boozer with Sky while up in Scotland visiting your parents.

I leant my Dad the book (he still lives in Edinburgh) and he's on the phone to me before during and after games now. Another convert to the cause. My Mum was always Spurs as she knew The Ghost years ago before he signed for Spurs.

Unfortunately due to personal circumstances I'll be going "back up the road" in the near future so my trips to WHL will be reduced to the odd weekend.

I loved the club tho as if I was born to it and will really miss it..loved the fact if you had that passion for the history and traditions of the club your background made no difference.

Any time I need reminding of those happy days at WHL i'll pick up your book and give it a read.

All the best

Now’s a good time for those who haven’t read this and are criticising Jol to have a look at what can be achieved when we pull together. COYS!!

Just finished reading it finally. A page a night, read as a diary and it went down well. I'm not sure a repeat of style would hold up a second version though.
