Just got another e-mail from Amazon saying that my copy was despatched today. So much for 1-2 weeks which is what they said yesterday.

Something about the left and right hands being totally unaware of what each other is up to comes to mind.

Anyway delighted it's on it's way across the pond and am really looking forward to reading it Ally.

It better be good! :D

Received mine yesterday - now ensconced in the guests' powder room for entertainment of the Jolvial kind.

Will definitely be ordering a copy when I find some money. May shed a little joy on my rather depressed Spurs related mood at the moment.

As RB is probably still struggling with the big words (Tramezzani) I’d like to say well done Ally on a great read for a normally book-shy Dougal. I get a weekend away from SC and my girlfriend keeps finding me with a book at the end of my nose! It could have been a diary for quite a few people on here and I’m just glad you were able to capture a great season for us in book form.

Loved the characters around the Lane, Mavis, Edna and Charlie  , the ‘Werewolf’ moments and a particular favourite of mine, trudging through the countryside snow looking for a pub to find the game (did a similar 8 mile stretch myself a few years back to see us lose 2-0 to Southampton :( ). Anyway, I hope you are taking notes again this year and that it will have a happier ending!

One of my favourite parts so far:

David James has the concentration of a 4 year old child at lecture on nuclear physics

Fair play to Ally - he's even giving his book away in the Hotspur mag - edition four. You have had more exposure than Kat Shoobs, Ally.

They also give it a very nice review, which is great.

Any feedback on numbers yet Ally?

I have just finished reading Ode to Jol and although my opinion as a Spurs supporter since 1958 counts no more than any other Spurs supporter I do have a slight edge as a professional editor of many years standing.

As a Spurs supporter I say it’s great, as an editor I say it has polish, it has been drawn together the way only an acute observer of human behaviour can, it’s characterisation is solid and very real. This is a book that will still be around when people say “I have been a Spurs supporter since 2005â€.

A book so obviously written by somebody who is Spurs to the very core.

A bloody good read.
