As a result of a number of incidents which have given cause for concern regarding the safety of autograph seekers, players and staff - and following discussions and advice from the Police - the Club has had to take the decision to prohibit players and coaching staff from stopping and signing autographs at the gates of Spurs Lodge or anywhere along Luxborough Lane and the near vicinity.

Luxborough Lane is a public road, used regularly by vehicles for general access and to access their own as well as council properties. As such, people congregating around cars and cars being stopped at undesignated points, poses a very real safety risk to both pedestrians and drivers.

Additionally, we have been advised that, on health and safety grounds, we cannot allow unscheduled visitors to stand within Club property.

Therefore, we would kindly ask you not to put our Spurs Lodge security staff, as well as players and coaches, in a difficult position by attempting to obtain autographs in Luxborough Lane once pre-season training commences and thereafter.

Please be aware that the police had to be called on occasions last season when autograph-hunters outside the training ground caused safety and traffic problems.

Players regularly sign autographs at White Hart Lane's Paxton Road entrance at every home game and the Club arranges signings at its stores in Tottenham, Harlow, Enfield, and will be doing so in Chelmsford during the school holidays.

Thank you for your co-operation on this matter. If you have any enquiries, please contact [email protected]

Looks like you'll have to forge them now in the light of this new announcement

Depending on what you want signed you could send something through the post. Years back I sent a blank birthday card to them for Mabbutt to sign and I just filled in the other details when they posted it back. I supplied a stamped addressed envelope aswell just to give them as little as possible to do. I also sent a request to Villa for my girlfriends birthday and they sent back a card signed by the manager and a few players within 3 days of my original letter. Clubs must get that kind of thing all the time.

I don't see it being a problem. As the statement says you can stand outside at the games anyway, I always see the players there!

Also as Dougal says, posting stuff (and giving them as little as possible to do) should be easy enough. I once sent a letter to Darren Anderton and he sent me a signed pic and wrote stuff too. I was a very happy kid!!

He probably sprained his wrist and missed half a season writing that letter
