fascinating stuff - who of these will feature in the first team this season? (that's my question BTW :)

Two of our younger players are relishing the experience of training with the first team in Spain.
Andros Townsend and goalkeeper Oscar Jansson are with fellow youngsters Tomas Pekhart, Troy-Archibald Henville and John Bostock at the training camp.
Second Year Academy trainee Andros, who turns 17 this week, said: "This is a great opportunity at my age and I know I have to seize the chance to impress.
"I spoke to Jamie O'Hara the other day and he said 'you're only young, don't worry too much if something goes wrong' and he's right, I'm only 16 and not many players at my age are training with the first team at a club like Tottenham.
"Just being around senior professionals you pick up things and I'll use the experience to try to become a better player."
Oscar, 17, has impressed our new goalkeeping coach Hans Leitert. "It's a fantastic opportunity to learn from the likes of Hans, Gomes and Ben Alnwick," he said. "Gomes has been brilliant, a great personality and I've loved working with him and it's the same with Ben. It's a great team to work with.
"My goal when I came back this summer was to be with the Under-18s and hopefully the reserves so to come out to Spain has been superb. It's a real experience and I'm learning in every session."

There was an interview when Bostock joined saying that part of the Spurs deal was that he'd join the first team squad in pre-season training in Spain, and then play in the reserves. It's good to know that part of the deal has been honoured.

It's also interesting that Bostock's mate & fellow England youth international, Andros Townsend, is also out in Spain. I've seen him on Sky for England (at some agegroup level), and he's a tricky wide leftie.

I wonder if our other "big money signing" Academy player, Dean Parrett, is also out in Spain, or whether he's training with Clive's group or the youth squad in Switzerland?

Hi Yanno - presumably as he's not mentioned I guess DP ain't there - is he still too young for the U19s currently playing today?

Hi DC_Boy :)

If you check the official site Academy pages, Parrett & Bostock are First Year Academy players and Townsend is Year Two.

In other words, Townsend is a year agegroup older than both Bostock & Parrett. Of course Bostock already has Championship level experience as a fifteen-year-old, and appears to have been promised reserve team football in the coming season.

I wouldn't read too much into the fact that Bostock is listed as first year academy, it's probably just due to his age.

Indeed. As I've said in the thread, Bostock claimed in an interview that he's likely to start in the reserves this season. However, we should have a top team for the FA Youth Cup. :)
