Im sure Im not the only one thinking about this. I know Harry owes Pompey a few players after nicking their strike duo and now its on the cards that we are in line to bag Krankjar but I do hope this loan deal re 'O' Hara till January has a re-call option.

He is a very useful and versatile squad player and in the first couple of games repalced Modric as sub for the last third of our opening games. With the unforunate news that has befallen Modric, we are desperately short of cover on the left. Even Bale is out injured.

Surely it would make sense simply recalling him rather than splashing the cash to cover our weaknesses in this area, or could we even recall him even after getting Krankjar. Sorry to stitch up Pompey again but needs must and all that and surely charity should begin at home.

Its not gone unnoticed that we have a few tricky games coming up, not to mention another possible Carling Cup run.

IMO we could do with him back and see how it pans in January when some of the our long term injured have returned and bedded back into the side. Perhaps then we could think about a loan move out.

Any thoughts????

Bostock and Rose could be given a chance on the subs bench both are highly rated. I know Bostock isn't out on loan what about Rose he's still here too right?

I doubt we have an option to re-call, seems a bit harsh, and Kranjcar is better than O'Hara anyway.

Bostock doesn't even have a squad number at present?

Different positions though. I'd see O'Hara more as a backup to Wilson than a left-sided player. It just worries me that we don't have anyone who could come in should Wilson get injured/suspended. O'Hara is a limited player technically but he does the run around kicking everyone midfield role relatively effectively...certainly more effectively than anyone else currently in the squad (other than Wilson obviously).

I'm worried about the DM, LB and CB positions.

Woodgate still a way off; Ledley has had a set back; Daws, I like the guy but has no pace and haven't been overly impressed with his defending in the past (and injured).

LB - If Bennie gets injured there's no-one else as Bale is also injured. Although hasn't Naughton played LB for Sheff Utd?

We should be covered at LB as Naughton has played plenty of games there. DM I reckon we can cover if Wilson is suspended but agree we have a problem if he's out for a while. Hopefully Jenas back by then

See your obvious concern about CB but we can't go and buy yet another CB. We 4 very good AND Chalky AND Hudd.

We may have to take defeats to ManUre and Chelsea on chin and say we were unlikely to win so only 2 points lost

Dos Santos Lennon, Bentley and Kranjkuar can all do a job on the left, and thats not including youngsters like Bostock and Rose. Even Keane who played there when Crouch come on a the weekend, i think we're covered enough even though i dont think we should have loaned O'Hara out.

Yeah just think we'll have to clench our ass cheeks together until Woody, Daws and Bale return and hope Palacios stays in one piece.

You cant keep signing players because of injury though....we have two left backs for a reason, so if one is injured the other plays. You cant sign another LB just because Bale is injured, same for the CB position.

Would like to see us ship Jenas in January and bring in some stronger cover for Palacios.

OHara's loan is only until the next window anyway, plus he signed a new contract before he went.

Exactly, the new contract is the key here. We think O'Hara could be useful to us and will get valuable playing time at Pompey - more than he would for us. Undoubtedly he has been used to sweeten the Niko deal.

Let's face it, we would have to have a lot of injuries for JOH to be starting league games for us.

If he gets regular games then it should be good for him. If he is stuck on the bench then he would have been best to stay on the bench.

I'm not sure if it is a good sign for his long term Spurs future - he has played enough games already, I'm not sure he needs the experience per say

.He becomes a more valuable asset with a longer contract.
Good point, but I think the geniune reason is that there is actually a future for this no-frills player at the Lane.

Isn't Wilson a no-frills player? Jamie tended to be a left side sub often for Modric so I suspect Kranjcar is now a prefered option and it seems to me that if you are loaning out a 22 year old his future at the club is not secure.

We didn't buy Ohara though - he pretty much came free via Arsenal and continued his education within our junior ranks. His versatility as well as his left foot often is his downfall in finding him pidgeon-holed out on the left flank. Yet his best game was recently, in ventrl midfield, when he got voted man-of-the-match. I guess Harry wants to play him but right now can't, much like the more senior players, Crouch and Bentley. The difference here is that Ohara needs the game time to hone down his ideal position and he recognises this by taking the loan option, albeit reluctantly for half a season.

I thought this may be a good deal for us and JOH, however with Bale still injured and Chimbonda gone we have no cover for BAE at left back. Except for maybe Nathan Byrne but he's probably not experienced enough to step up being a 2nd year academy player not sent out on loan yet..

Jamie can play as a solid left back, however at his age he won't like being BAE's understudy, or anyone's for that matter, so you can understand his reason for going.

I just hope it doesn't back fire and we have 2 left back injured at the same time.
