What's new

On the playing side what is it that we’re missing the most?

General understanding of what's expected of them and effort. Just seems like no one really understands their roles other than Kane. He knows how to put the ball in the net.

That’s not even his role. He’s our bell playing centre back in our 10-0-0 formation.

Our midfield are continually stretched. We don't win 2nd balls or 50/50s, we don't create passing angles to play out from the back and we often don't provide enough of a shield to our shaky CBs. We need 3 in midfield to be able to change that and I've been saying so for months. We now have Hojbjerg and Ndombele looking knackered which has made things even worse. Lose the midfield, lose the match is usually how it goes.

Pretty much what @Japhet said - we need more "va va voom" from our engine. Højbjerg, Skipp, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sabitzer would provide it.

Let's play the ball through midfield and pass at a fast tempo with confidence. This should give us the elememt of control and forward impetus we currently lack

A Naybet type would turn losses into draws and draws into wins, imo.
I have said it before that it surprises me that we haven't made this sort of signing more often.

If we don't want to buy an experienced player on a high salary knowing there'll be little sell on value is fine.

But Naybet and Davids for free transfers on 1-2 year deals were excellent signings. I remember Cambiasso going to Leicester for a season. He would have been perfect for our team.

TBF, it’s not just we who treat the centre circle as if it had been mined, a lot of teams try to bypass the central areas. Of course, everyone else does it better than we do.

If Skipp can perform as he has been his style of play takes a lot of pressure off of the defence .
The reason being that he stops opposition players by his interceptions and tackling thus not stopping opponents in their track thus the defence has less problems to face .
Lets just hope he is not just of Championship standard but somehow I believe he will be of the standard we need .
