Can anyone give me one good reason why any of our strikers should be kept in the summer.

I honestly can't think of one.

People say "but we'll never get a top striker unless we pay high wages" - i don't think we need a top striker, right now a mediocre striker would be a big improvement on our lot.

Seriously half the premier league first team strikers are better than what we have and the same goes for La Liga and the top 5 or 6 teams in both Italy and Spain.

(VDV not included as a striker in this rant).

If I were manager, which obvious I am not, I would keep Crouch as a 3rd/4th choice for his abilities in Europe. I prefer Pav as a player to both Defoe and Crouch, but we need an all new first choice frontline to compete for 4th next year IMO.

Pav - No, he's gone back and forth from being happy and unhappy, he needs to go somewhere where he can start regularly, thats not here.

Keane - No, been a wonderful player down the years but it's time to move on for both club and player.

Crouch - Harder to let go, he's been great in his own way at times but infuriating at others. Offers something different with his height but in his 30's now and we need an all round target man with more pace than Peter.

Defoe - I love JD on his day, never made a secret of that and I still maintain his season was ruined by the injury for England cos if people remember he was looking superb at that stage. Not recovered and form has been affected.

Of all of them I'd keep him because I still think he could be a good partner for a new big man but I may be in the minority on that front.

Pav is supposed to be Bale's best mate at the club.

That's the best I can think of though. All 4 are deadwood.

I wouldn't mind keeping one (probably Crouch). We desperately need two new strikers in the Summer. At the very least one. Imagine if we don't get a single one?

No he ain't, his best mate is Woody and Dawson, I have the Spurs magazine where they interviewed him and asked him this question. I'll find it and scan it if it matters.

One good reason why we have another thread on the merits of our strikers?

Keane, Crouch and Defoe.... 1 goal between before the January window.... P45's all round me thinks. It will be their pathetic lack of goals this season that cements our non-top 4 finish.

I like Pav, but he needs a kick up the ass and I can't be bothered with him anymore

i'd keep Pav

and get rid of defoe, crouch, keane and dos santos...3 goals in 9 starts for the later, hmm maybe give him one more pre season, see how he clicks in this spurs side

anyway its more likely that will get rid of keane, Pav will be pushed, and we'll keep defoe and crouch because they are such a lethal partnership

Not asking for merits or their strengths and weaknesses, just seeing if anyone has a GOOD reason for keeping any of them.

So far i'd say that's a resounding no (although good effort from Dan A)

If we can find improved replacements for all 4 and have the resource to do so then yes. I would get rid. Harry needs to decide what he wants from his strikers then scout possible players who can play that role. No point replacing them with shite though. So. Reasons to keep. Yes, if we can't find better. Which isn't really a reason because I could easily scout 3 strikers to replace 4 and we would be better off.

Keep Defoe so he can go on wearing that tee-shirt.
Seriously I'd keep only Pav.
I doubt it's in the manager's plans to sell Little and Large though.

Who's going to pay good money for Defoe based on this season?
If Levy has any brains he'll shift out the dead wood without worrying about big transfer fees. Clearing the wage bill and getting in a couple of strikers who can get us into the CL will be better and more profitable in the long term. I'm sure plenty of sides would take a chance on Defoe if he came cheap.
