If we can find improved replacements for all 4 and have the resource to do so then yes.

I think we only need to bring in 3, assuming VDV as the 4th.

If we can't find improved replacement for them then it is because our club, it's scouting network and management are all a bunch of fecking morons.

Seriously you could put all the names of 1st team striker from the premier league in a hat, pick out 3 at random and almost be guaranteed that one of them is better than what we have right now, with the other two pretty much on a par.

I can give you a good reason: If we don't sign any other strikers!

No, that is not a good reason. Sell them regardless.

I can't bear to watch Crouchys stupid grin everytime he misses a gilt edge chance with a powder puff header ala Ian Walker everytime he made a keeping error.

Or Defoe, learn the offside rule son, and quit moaning about you Euro place after scoring you first two PL goals from open play in a year.

Or Pav because despite being the best we have got (best strike rate of the three by far, same number of goals + assists as Crouch despite playing less games from the start and from the bench) H obviously can't stand him.

I honestly don't think it matters too much what we get for them. If we loose out on champions league next season then we've lost £20m+

The cost of not making it these days is more than the cost of bringing in a quality player that can make the difference.

Its unlikely we'll get three top notch strikers this summer. Of the three, I think Pav has the most untapped potential, but he needs to play.

Who's going to pay good money for Defoe based on this season?

I think we try and get Newcastle or QPR to pay £15m to take away both Laurel and Hardy. Sell them on the myth that they were a good partnership at Portsmouth.

One good reason? How about comedy value...though the joke is wearing a bit thin.

It is common knowledge that Harry has 'rose tinted glasses' when it comes to our strikers....and they have a distinct Union Jack lense....(which explains our poor displays). Pav has never been given the chance that he deserves (well, the strike force is centred around Defoe and Crouch?). We need to bring in any average euro-south american-australasian who can bring us to a level that the English 'misfits' can't?).
Even though I am severly upset by what transpired in Madrid, I am still hopeful that we can do something....unusual, to drag us back into this tie (Milan X 2). It will not be an easy task....but if Harry catches a serious, debilitating illness (a 6 week version!) we might just have a chance? That is however just hopeful dreaming (like the English cricket team?) but.....a dream is a good place to begin? COYS!

I think Harry will hopefully recognize he has reached a peak at spurs and then go climb the England mountain.

Defoe has never delivered not Pav nor Crouch.. Keane did but he is pussy whipped and finished. We need to invest in young talent that will develop into the best.. Dean Sturridge and Welbeck would be good starting points and bring in a older hero, who can carry the march for next year. Yep here is my star name.. nope I shall share my older hero name for later

clean slate imo.. none are anyway good enough. we were in deep shit last night second crouch was sent off and had zero options on bench despite 2 strikers been there. there is no more to be said. we need players who make a difference and none of our bench last night cud bar thudd

for me someone like lukaka will be our best option or someone who wants one last big payday. i can dream of someone like etoo wud be be ideal for spurs but thats nopt going to happen..

i hate wish laist but someone like lukaka, wickham and falcao maybe. i think sturridge wud be great signing too but like sof chelsea and united dont sell to rivals.

above that someone like aguero, forlan and hulk.

I'd keep Pav.

In this current inflated English market;

Crouch to Newcastle/Sunderland for £9/10 million and Defoe to Everton/Sunderland/Villa for £13m. Both are England internationals and that always counts for something.

Harry won't sell either Crouch or Defoe. I can seen at least one forward coming in though and maybe a younger player.

There seems to be a notion amongst some here that we need an Aguero, Llorente or Benzema to improve the quality of our results up-front. Often times, I've read posts on this forum (including when we were debating whether Suarez should've been pursued) that we shouldn't opt for strikers that aren't an improvement over what we've got. Well, there are literally hundreds of strikers around the world that would perform significantly better than we've seen this season.

The thing is, we could even vastly improve our strikeforce on the cheap by chasing low-hanging fruit this summer.

If we were to sell off Pav, Crouch, and Keane, we'd likely recoup, at a minimum, 15 million pounds. We could in-turn offer that 15 million plus Defoe for Asamoah Gyan of Sunderland.

We could then offer solid wage packages to Elmander and Klose and attempt to grab them both on free transfers.. Just like that, we have three strikers with experience, who can lead the line. These three guys aren't fantasy transfers, either. Two of them are at significantly smaller, less relevant clubs (presumably on low wages) and one is in the same position that Raul and Van Nistelrooy were last season.

Can anyone really see Gyan, Klose, and Elmander scoring 9 league goals between them in 2011-2012? I could see Gyan scoring 15 alone with the service he'd get here!

I agree with what you're saying, and although the players you've mentioned would be a good improvement for us and are all very obtainable i think the options like this both in the prem and throughout Europe are plenty.

But yes to Gyan. Yes to either Klose or RVN and then add a third player either someone like Elmander of perhaps Forlan.

Not asking for merits or their strengths and weaknesses, just seeing if anyone has a GOOD reason for keeping any of them.

So far i'd say that's a resounding no (although good effort from Dan A)

Peter Crouch has his value in international football and would offer something else coming off the bench. Also, he's one of our 4 needed club trained players if we want to have 25 men in our UEFA squad.

Uefa defines a club-trained player as one who has been registered for a minimum of three seasons with the club between the age of 15 and 21.

This doesn't apply to Crouch.

Currently we have Bale, Lennon, Huddlestone, King, Rose & Walker.

Assuming King may be out of the picture next season and Rose is loaned out or sold, then we'd be ok as long as we bring back Walker.
