What's new

One player to take us that extra step?

If we could swap out Sissoko for Sabitzer I think it would improve us a lot and also give us some tasty options. Skriniar in for Sanchez would be a nice fit too.

Sabitzer seems to be the one that makes sense. There is still the debate about what to do in central defence too. I would really like the club to look for Toby's long term replacement. Poor Japhet is having a terrible time with injuries too.

We need that one X-factor player like Grealish. Not just another decent wide forward that rely on service from others, but a player that can create something by himself from nothing and will occupy the defense.

Don't know if I've already posted on here but Grealish all day. I still don't know how we can do it he plays best in sons position, but if they can rotate or try grealish rwf, I dunno but wanted grealish for a long time.

Sabitzer if not.

Preferably both.

Totally agree, but those players are so hard to get.

We're better of going for a younger player who has the capability of turning into someone like that.

Bruno Fernandes was the answer. Only Liverpool have taken more points than Utd since Brunos arrival according to Carragher and Nevilles team of the year presentation last night.

We keep baulking at the last few million required to get a ready made player over the line. Most of our best players in the last decade have been dramatically successful punts or luck for example Alli, Bale (1st time round) ,Kane (promoted from within).

Grealish, Fernandes,Mane are examples of times the boat should have been pushed out instead of buying the likes of GLC. Nobody was competing with us for GLC or Gedson et al. Ready made premier players are in the premier league and sometimes you need to just go and get them . Your Raul Jiminez's, your Grealish's etc.

Liverpool got VVD, Robertson, Henderson, Mane,Oxlaide Chamberlain,Jota from other premier league teams. Plug and play.

I laugh at people talking about Soumare and foreign players of his ilk. He'd sign for us and then sit on the bench or play midweek so he could " get used to the league" " settle in" "acclimatise".

Buy football players who are going to play football now. Vinicius isn't even being used. Hes 25 for fuck sake.

We need more than one a replacement for Aurier & someone to put Sissoko on the bench as a minimum.

If Barca are really interested in N'Dombele & are prepared to pay the dosh I'd sell him & buy a replacement.

We've got players to make a difference we just need the team in behind them to help them do it.

Do you think that if we were able to bring in a top striker that kane would happy with being rotated? It won't happen, thats why we can't get one. Vinicius will never start a league game unless kane can't play.

I have been thinking about this a lot, and unfortunately we definitely need more than 1 player, more like three!

Mourinho knows what he needs to be able to win trophies. And I think he knows that Winks, Dele and Gedson are not what he wants in CM. I think he likes Sissoko and Lamela as options who can execute specific tasks and bring strength and aggression to the side when needed.

I would offload those three CMs - Dele, Winks and Gedson (cancel loan) - to get one in ... Sabitzer ... tactically intelligent, technically strong, another natural leader in the spine of the team.

Being able to pick a midfield 3 from Hojbjerg, Sabitzer, Lo Celso, Ndombele and Sissoko gives us great options for all types of scenarios. Plus Skipp can come back into the squad next season and compete with / learn from Hojbjerg.

If somehow we could get Skriniar in for Sanchez our CB options would improve massively (assuming Mourinho intends to keep the low block / counter attack). I'd sacrifice Doherty, who seems not suited at all to the way we play, to help make this happen, and Tanganga looks ideally suited to compete at RB with Aurier.

Unless Bale can demonstrate significant improvement second half of the season I would also not renew his loan next season and look to replace both him and Moura, who does not score enough, with a better RWF, one with pace and aggression, maybe Zaha?

Slightly smaller squad, better suited to Mourinho's blue print, smaller wage bill.

In [3]:
Skriniar
Sabitzer
Zaha

Out [9]:
Gazzaniga
Rose
Sanchez
Doherty
Winks
Gedson
Dele
Bale
Moura

Lloris [Hart]
Aurier [Tanganga] Skriniar [Alderweireld] Dier [Rodon] Reguilon [Davies]
Højbjerg [Skipp] Sabitzer [Sissoko]
Ndombele [Lo Celso]
Zaha [Lamela] Kane [Vinicius] Son [Bergwijn]

Yoof: Cirkin, White, Clarke, Scarlett, Parrott
