So I was overjoyed to be surprised yesterday for my birthday with my dad’s classic shirt from the 93-95 seasons:

It’s “well loved” but I love it anyway.

What classic shirts are in your closets?

Pretty much all of them from 1978-present... I've ignored a few of the Pony and Kappa kits but I wasn't a great fan of those.

The Le Coq Sportif and Hummel shirts/apparel are my favourites.

Kappa kits were my favourite. But then I was much younger and could get away with wearing them back then.
Our pony kits were really cool looking back now.

Feels like for over a decade now our home kits have been ruined by the red sponsors logo on the shirt. Change the AIA from red to navy and the whole look of the kit changes.

I’ve spent a fair bit of time in Asia, particularly Hong Kong and China for work, and red is a very very big thing out there. While we have Asian corporations sponsoring us, we are stuck red sponsors logos.

I have a real soft spot for the blue/purple striped Pony away kit TBF... the others not so much. Didn't like the first Pony home kit but the 2nd one was lovely, recently sourced some Worthington Cup Final patches to add to mine (want to find a long sleeve version tho). The Kappa kits I've stayed away from mostly because there's so many fakes being sold of those, the ones I have got are the Kappa 'Gara' player spec shirts which were never released to the public.

I'm obsessed with 'The Shirt' and have built up quite a collection since I started buying them up 20 odd years ago. I can spot a player shirt a mile off. Mostly go for the rarities now and try and avoid eBay since everyone seems to think their child size pony home shirt with the sponsor falling off is worth £300 odd notes these day's.

89/90 Hummel/Holsten top was the classic imo.

Favourites have always been the first couple of seasons kits from Hummel, found most of those on eBay years ago, don't think I paid more than £15 each. The best find was a prototype Hummel away shirt from that set of kits (basically the 1st home shirt in sky blue).

I missed out on a yellow 3rd shirt from the Centenary season once, the only time I've ever actually seen one... still haunts my dreams that that one got away.

My first kit was 1990-1 Hummel.

I’ve been bought others, but this year I got the 1962 Classic. It will never need updating in my mind.

I have every home and away from 1994 to 2001, and the two Puma Investec kits. I won't buy the red sponsor ones.

My favourites are the first Puma one, with the shoulder stripes from the Bale/Inter Milan season, and the striped purple Pony shirt from 95/96. The Adidas Ginola one is probably the most worn.
