Is it really as bad as everyone is making out?

Every team has a blip each season and this period has been ours. But the games haven't been easy!!!

No Champions League game is easy and we played teams who had players with far more CL experience than ours, we learn and move on.

In 3 tough London derbys vs West Ham (H) and Arsenal and Chelsea (A) we've come away with 4 points and 2 fairly good performances and one not so good ,ironically the not so good was vs West Ham which we ended up winning.

Monaco are top scorers in Europe I believe and haven't lost at home in something like 26 games so with key players out and off form that was always going to be extremely tough.

I think this will have been our toughest period of the season and we've got it out the way early, the key now is to start winning games again and hopefully getting a run of consecutive wins together. That will be the true measure of how good we are mentally and quality wise.

If we don't then we'll regret this bad period, if we do then we should still do ok.

No it's not that bad at all, people just typically like to look for negatives.

Our injuries have been masked over but IMO we've done okay with a lot of key players missing, regarding the CL group it was one of the toughest groups that's been drawn so I'm not surprised that we've been eliminated, it just goes to show that we don't have the strength in depth to play two games in a week at high intensity especially if we have players missing.

Anyway I expect us to pick up a few points over Xmas and keep in the hunt with the chasing pack.

Also as we all know, added to the injuries our new players have not settled in or provided the level of quality as quickly as we'd have liked.

I feel like we are where Arsenal were about 5 or so years ago when RVP and Fabregas left and Wenger bought a lot of young players to try to build a new team to make up for losing these 2 star players, whilst some of their players didn't hit the ground running straight away they are starting to see the fruits of this now and added to that they bought 2 'superstars' in Ozil and Sanchez. We can't do this currently so it's imperative that the signings we make to plug any gaps can have the desired impact ideally in their first season but worst case then in their 2nd season they should be producing the goods. Lamela and Son have shown this to somewhat be the case but still aren't consistent as we'd need them to be. Then we all know the Janssen and Sissoko story. N'Koudu was always going to need time,we've fortunately seen glimpses that there could be a player there somewhere but unfortunately Janseen and Sissoko to date haven't really shown that as much and the latter doesn't have time on his side.

Big 3 points and hopefully
Comfortable win needed on Saturday. No excuses, they are shipping goals and out of form and one of worst 3 teams in the league we should be at home putting teams like this to the sword now.

Just think of it this way. Despite our most important player last season having a mare, despite missing Lamela, Alderweireld, Dembele and Kane for significant parts of this season we're still clear in fifth and not far off the Liverpool and Chelsea who are having great seasons.

Agreed but surely you need to consider the circumstances with regards to injuries, form and quality of opponent?

Not really, every team has injuries and top teams learn to deal with them... Arsenals injury record is ridiculed season after season yet they are fighting out at the top without fail.

Quality of opposition cant be used as an excuse now when in recent times we have performed pretty well against the top teams and struggled more against weaker teams who sit back.

Are you kidding? We could have been drawn with teams like Bayern, Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc given that we were in pot 3. Instead we got probably the worst team in pot 1 (CSKA), and we also got one of the easier teams in pot 2, Leverkusen, who are currently sitting in 10th place in the Bundesliga with a -1 goal difference. Monaco admittedly was a tough draw from pot 4, but overall our group wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been and that's what everyone was saying after the draw was made. Still, we've been absolutely pathetic, won 1 game out of 5, lost both games at home, and we've looked totally devoid of any creativity or impetus, or even any fight whatsoever. In most of our games we've looked like we don't even give a shit about progressing.

1 win in 10 is poor form no matter how you want to sugarcoat it.
Heck no! Have you gone mad! All the injuries! Pochettino is still learning! The squad is so young! We didn't lose until Chelsea! Kane signed a new contract! We will have a new stadium in X seasons! We have played so difficult teams! ALL THE INJURIES! Geez, you call your self a supporter? How DARE YOU suggest that we are nothing but GREAT! We are doing fine!!!!!

will we have a similar thread as the 1 i have posted if the Swansea keeper saves everything we throw at him, and is MotM, and we get done by Swansea's only effort on target?

in the League so far we have lost 1 game, could of possibly lost 2 others, though could of won those 2 also. yes we haven't played anywhere near as good as last season, but for goalkeepers, the woodwork and a few chances missed we are unlucky to have drawn the 6, possibly Bournemouth deserved their draw, but deserved to win the others even if 1 of them was a last minute win, on all 6 wins the overall game we deserved the result and should of had a better GD to go with, and that's when we haven't even played well yet

Everyone is unlucky with the woodwork, GKs having great days, poor ref decision. It happens at every team but when you support a team you just think it happens far more to you.

Things haven't been great, but its hardly the end of the world. We also have a manager that is learning as well. This was his first Champions League attempt, he is now getting more use to key players being out. It's all bigger picture stuff. As long as we are on the upward curve that is all that matters and we clearly are. We will have a team fit to play in our amazing new season in 2018. Kane is now back, Toby on his way back. There are far too many postive things going on right now to be super annoyed and it's just difficult trying to separate short glory for what the long term looks to be brininging.

Now if we don't smash Swansea 8-0 i'm fucking done with this club.

A little bit misleading thing to say when there are only 8 groups lol. I'd say ours was somewhere in the middle.

It was more the part that you're not surprised we've gone out so easily that I was talking about. When I saw the group drawn I thought we would do much better.

Well the point is that our group wasn't easy and I stand by that, with me saying that I'm not surprised we didn't make it through because when the group got drawn I thought at the time we could have finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd and seeing as we struggle to handle two games a week at high intensity and with our injury problem is was starting to look like we were going to finish 3rd, I don't think it's such a disgrace that we wen't out of that group considering our circumstances and we play in a league where you need to to be at high intensity in almost every match, we were suffering and we had less experience than our group rivals.

And ok it was Swansea but suprise surprise we have most of our key players back and FIT and we hammer someone. It's makes a huge difference when players have little knocks or have come back from a big injury, kane, alli, son, dembele have all not been fit until now and they're all key to our attacking game.
