Check out these heat maps of Christian Eriksen and Mesut Ozil’s debuts for their new clubs…
This new technology allows us to see the impact that a player has during the entire game. It works by pointing out where a player does most of his work on the football pitch. The map gets ‘hotter’ when the player has the ball in certain areas.
Ozils heat map ( both maps from squawka.com) is below.

The heat map show’s how busy the Germans debut has been, and explains how effective the Germans free running style is. It took him just 11 minutes to assist Oliver Giroud to score Arsenal’s opener.
Meanwhile Spurs’ new signing, 21-year-old Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, had a similar impact in the game against Norwich.
Eirksen’s heat map:

The Dane also assisted a goal on his debut, and saw considerably more of the ball than his German counterpart.
Although Ozil will get the headlines, mainly due to his £42m fee, Eriksen’s all-action display was arguably even more impressive. The map shows how heavily he was involved in the final third, and used his short intricate passes to dictate Tottenham’s comfortable victory.

Might be in the minority but I rate Eriksen as a more complete footballer than Ozil

He cost less because he had 1 year left on his contract, plays for a less fashionable national team and moved from a less fashionable club and league.

We need to stop comparing the two players. It's great that we have them in this league.

I'm so glad he's hit the ground running, long may it continue. I thought he was fantastic today.

So you were proved to be a wum in the ITK section so have decided to try your luck in Spurs chat?

People said the same thing about Cazorla this time last season.

Couldn't give a Tinker's left gonad about Ozil but I'm really excited about Eriksen. Our link from midfield to attack was so much better today and he was a large part of that. When he a greater understanding with the rest of the team I feel he could be immense for us - probably means he will meet Charlie Adam and lose a limb now.

Couldn't agree more I don't care one bit about the scum and their players all I care about is AVB and his squad

Özil set up Walcott for about three great chances and the little scrote ballsed them all up.

Imagine being used to threading balls through to Ronaldo and now having to get used to threading them through for Walcott

I like to think we bought CE because we needed him. MO was a panic buy for Arsenal because they said they would spend big in the window. They strengthened in an area they didn't need to.
Love the heat maps btw

Sunderland had a perfectly good goal disallowed for a foul awarded to them. That dumb referee actually called play back. If it was 2-2, who knows what might happen

What must be hugely frustrating for Sunderland is that Twatkinson didn't actually blow his whistle for the foul until Altidore had outmuscled Sagna and was through on goal. He could have redeemed himself by sending Sagna off, but he used zero common sense there and didn't even apply the rules properly.

IMO there is no team in the world the doesn't need Ozil in their side. They had the cash and took advantage of an opportunity, albeit a pricey one. Giroud must be the like the cat that got the cream at the moment at the prospect of having Ozil and Carzola teeing him up.

Eriksen could well get up to the level of Ozil, he showed all the ability yesterday, but let's wait until we've seem him against some of the tougher sides in the league before we build him up too much.

Heat Maps are my favorite.

I can't say anything more about Eriksen that hasn't already been said. He was such a difference maker yesterday.
