Thanks for the thread @Bulletspur & @chrissivad - appreciated as always.

Going light against a bit of an unknown quantity, albeit with Nuno and his Portuguese connections ?

I'm wary because of recent results against 'lowly' clubs like Colchester and lower level Europa teams.

I suppose it's natural - hoping for a decent result and going through to the "proper" comp and getting that coefficient looking healthier.

Premier Sports in the UK I understand.

For any Norwegians it's on VG+ it seems.
Cheers JonnyP!

Premier Sports ffs. Pisses me off how you now need to have about 4 different sports subscriptions to follow your team. And they wonder why footie fans resort to illegal streams!

I’ll be watching tonight but it will certainly not be on premier sports!!

Really want to win this cup.

They beat Larne from our local league here 4-0 at home in previous qualifier but were beaten 1-0 in the second leg, not sure if they fielded a weakened side in that though.

Ballsy move for a whole new starting XI, but also the right move imo. If we want John, Scarlett, Clarke etc to really develop, we need to give them proper minutes, not just 5 min cameos, and accept they will make mistakes. FWIW Even if we lose tonight, I'll maintain that this line up was the right choice.

I know absolutely nothing about Paco other than they finished 5th in the Primera last season, so are clearly no mugs. Really looking forward to seeing Dane in his first full competitive appeareance, and our new guys.

Interesting approach. Complete opposite to Jose who was taking our entire first 11 out to play Bulgarian farmers.

Personally I thought he'd take along at least a handful of players, maybe Hojbjerg, one of the CBs, Lucas, etc. Perhaps even Son on the bench as a contingency plan.

While the Conference League is a joke, qualification to the group stages is worth a couple million quid, and those 6 matches would be great experience/game time for our youngsters and fringe players. Not to mention all the money we'd make on tickets, booze, etc. Would be a shame if we missed out on that.

If we go 2 or 3 down going into the home leg, that would be a bit optimistic. This is a risky bet from Nuno, but I won't be surprised if we aren't prioritizing this comp to give it our all in getting top 4 instead.

Doubt they're that good

They're not minnows from some random small country, and even if they were, being 2 or 3 down into the next leg could easily push us out. Arrogance has cost more than one team in the past, as we saw against Dinamo Zagreb last year.

Would have preferred 2-3 senior players involved to be honest. Even a Lucas, Bergwijn, Dier etc just to give that experience to the team if it is mostly the kids and new signings. Rather smash the first leg then send kids out second leg personally.

Havent a few of them travelled? I though Nuno just said those that played Sunday wouldn't start the game. I suspect a couple will be on the bench.

looking forward to seeing Scarlett start though.

All 11 from the City game stayed at home.

The majority from the list on the previous page I didn't see any of the City XI. Doesn't have to be the whole side, just a few to bring the seniority and experience. I know Gollini is mid 20s, but he is a new signing, Romero first start likely, Gil debut and the kids. Feels like a risk to me.

Think I'm in the minority and actually want to win this competition. We haven't won anything since 2008. We can't turn up our noses at it. Would be the first winners, and that goes with the history of the club when doing things first.

Yeah the squad does look a little light, especially in attack. As much as I don't like Sissoko, taking him on this trip with his physicality might have been an idea. We've always the second leg at home of course to turn things around if needs be. We don't want to lose tonight though. That would be very embarrassing.

I agree. I 100% want to win it. It should be the most achievable trophy for us this season. I'd question why anyone wouldn't want to win it personally. We might scoff at it now but the winner gets into the Europa League and god knows how the season will go for us at this point.

I want us to as well but it will involve a lot more games for us.

So like other cup competitions we will play a weakened side in the early stages. I really hope we don't go too weak and go out by underestimating our opponents.

I think it is actually less than winning last season's Europa League by one round. Happy to be corrected though as it was a while ago I looked at the make up of the competition.

I meant a lot more games than us not being in it.
