I care, for sure. I was excited to watch our new signings and our young prospects. But I’m not bothered about this competition in the slightest. Would almost be embarrassing to win it.
Fair enough but I can't get my head round this. One of the ways that we show we aren't a "top top" team is that Man U and Chelsea win the Europa, whilst we go out to the first half decent team we face.
This is a step below that, so (for me) it's more embarrassing to not win it - let along go out really early.

Quite the come down from the weekend

Disclaimer: Don't care about this shitty comp anyway.... :cautious:

Really? I’m struggling to be annoyed. We’ll win the second leg. Just need to take a slight hit on the prices we are asking for the deadwood now or else we’ll be stuck with winks et al for ever.

Sorry I keep seeing this and it just isn’t true.

As many of us said in the build up thread, Paços aren’t some Cypriot or Albanian team, they’re the “best of the rest” when you take the 4 big boys out of the Portuguese league.

Sure they’re not Sporting Lisbon or Porto, but they’re certainly no Anorthosis Famagusta or FC Zimbru Chisinau either.

Yes we should be winning that, but to imply our youth team or reserve team should be absolutely pummelling them away from home is nonsense.
Agreed if we are a mid table team but we are supposed to be a top 5 club and challenging for the title and the gap between the top clubs and the rest is huge in the Portuguese league.

I agree but that's why I said in some capacity really as the extent at which we can with Skipp I'm unsure of. I'm not one of the ones on here who're a bit over the top with Skipp already, I like what I see but I know he has a long way to go still.

Yeah which means really only PEH can be relied upon as proven, so our CM looks a mess. We are really lacking there.

Ridiculous decision to go there with so little experience on the bench, but even allowing for that you expect so much more from likes of Winks and Lol celso in particular.
If many of our first choice players are to get injured then we will have serious issues fielding our reserves.

So Spurs this result wouldn't be us otherwise! What continues to breed year on year is the complete lack of a whole squad ethic. Why aren't fringe players busting a gut to prove themselves and as for Ndombele/Aurier fallout it only adds to the worry inside the team.

Gil, I thought was the only one at least trying! As for the team again not bothering to turn up, it's pathetic. I don't care if it's a tinpot cup at least show some bloody fight and pride for the shirt!

Kane knows we're a lame duck and he did himself a favour not bothering what's clear you know if he does go Son's got a huge weight on his shoulders. As for the Levy/Paratici partnership let's see how we squander the money this time! Did it with Bale and it's likely history repeats itself with Kane.

At least the Goons are on the verge of buying Ramsdale must be following our transfer policy pay stupid money for a bang average payback!

The camera cutting to a 'what-the-hell-do-I-do now' Nuno look was not a good sign either.

Europa is a different ball game to this though. It has a level of prestige and history despite being second tier. This competition didn’t even exist a year ago. It’s meaningless.

A game on Thursday is always tricky. I think Nuno did the right thing leaving his best players for Sat.

An away loss isn't that big of a deal but not having a single shot on target is a worry, given we have first-teamers in the side.

Big big 2 weeks. Hopefully we can get milenkovic so we never see CCv again.

I repectfully disagree, I think it was a useful exercise and the players got a good 90 minutes under their belt and, as I posted earlier, I think this side can win the return. I won't be surprised to see much the same side but with a stronger bench.
I honestly believe winning wasn't the be all and end all of tonight's match.

I agree with the overall sentiment but i think we see a much stronger side next week.

clearly if we really wanted to ensure a result we at least would have loaded the bunch with ammunition. we basically took it as a shot to nothing

I'm far from annoyed, hence the  TBH, it's games like this that makes me realise why I love Tottenham lol

Maybe don't judge them in the context of thinking they won't get onto the subs bench of our PL team which is what he did...
But he’s right. Being in a mish-mash of a team is no excuse for GLC, Winks, etc. to play that poorly. Anyone can look good playing for 1970 Brazil.

Fair enough - just can't understand how something can be beneath us and yet we can't boss it.

Can't say I didn't expect that with that cobbled together team. 2nd leg to come with a stronger team we should get through.
I think Nuno was justified to put out a weaker team as there was no way that the team on Sunday who put so much of an effort in could not be expected to travel to Portugal and then play on Sunday.
Winks, Doherty and CCV should be nowhere near that squad let alone the team, absolutely shocking. Just reinforces the need for FP to get the players in sharpish to improve the squad.

I would rather see a system though rather than just individuals having a game under their belts. I'm not sure what good this game did for any of our players. They looked completely clueless.

the return leg is a chance for Kane to prove he really can turn up in the crunch games and isnt just a marzipan dildo.
