We’re still in it going into the second leg. That’s about as much as you can say.

Lo Celso and Romero will come good. Stop your bed wetting.

Early days for Romero obviously but le celso “will come good”, really? Been here 2 years and can count his good games on one hand

When I read that all of Sunday’s starters weren’t going to be involved I thought, ‘lose by a single goal only and we’ll turn it around 2nd leg’. So overall I’m pretty calm about the result.

But:
It’s an awful indicator of their level that Winks and GLC didn’t stand out at all in that game. I’m a fan of GLC but he was anonymous in the 1st half and laboured in the 2nd.

It’s also a sign of how little pride there is within the club that it doesn’t seem to matter to them that we’ve lost to such shit opposition. We’ll all get ribbed for days and social media will be full of memes from Paddy Power and the like and the club just bring it on themselves by not taking games like this seriously. And if we don’t take games like this seriously nowcan we really be surprised when get beat 3-0 by Dinamo Zagreb? We deserve it for our arrogance of thinking we can pick and choose which games matter.

Lastly, I don’t think that game has helped Dane Scarlett, Nile John et al one bit. They’ll have learnt nothing from that and their confidence will have taken a hit. You build up experience and confidence in those youngsters by giving them 90 mins amongst a cohesive team of quality - not by just throwing white shirts on 11 strangers and expecting them to be a team. A missed opportunity in my opinion.

A bit of a rant but that shite this evening was so unnecessary.

But he’s right. Being in a mish-mash of a team is no excuse for GLC, Winks, etc. to play that poorly. Anyone can look good playing for 1970 Brazil.

actually playing in a mishmash team is entirely an excuse for a player to play poorly, especially so as a first run out in the season.

Not that i am under any illusion that in this particular instance it wasnt because they are just fundamentally shit

Predictable result given the side picked and the lack of anything on the bench. And probably better for Nuno & Fabio to see the shortcomings of some of our reserves now rather than after 31 August.

Right so if Dele, Skipp played in that game instead of Winks, GLC would you have you expected anything different?

Yeah which means really only PEH can be relied upon as proven, so our CM looks a mess. We are really lacking there.

Yeah, I'm worried at how much of an acknowledgement of that there is though really. Strangely enough at the moment it's looking like Lo Celso and Ndombele are the 'depth midfielders' and we need at the very least one creative player for the first 11. Not being able to sell Winks and Sissoko as well as Ndombele and Lo Celso not being nearly as good as we anticipated has fucked us a bit really.

LOL are you serious? How do these senior pros at the club keep getting away with this.
Common denominator between Poch, Jose and now, Nuno. Not really sure how some folks don't see this, and don't see it as a blended issue. It's not one or the other. In this instance, Nuno does get a pass, simply 'cos he experimented to see if he could get a different tune from some of the shittery we've had to endure for three years. So, lesson learned, I'd say. He can move forward, knowing that some players can't be relied upon and need to find a way replace them.

Fuck this. We should be winning. It’s not ok to lose against anyone. I hope the SENIORS are bled out. Get a grip Nuno.

Not sure I get your point mate. GLC and Winks could play in a pub team and they should look better than they did tonight. Ditto some of the others, like Sess and Doherty. Just because they were playing in an XI that hadn’t played together before, I don’t see that as an excuse. If Dele and Skipp played instead I’d expect the same of them
