Because I think the Europa League is a joke and an unwanted distraction. All I hope to get out of it is some decent experience for a good few youngsters.

I think we'll do well to finish in the top 6 this season so we may as well try and win a trophy. Success breeds success after all.

We are at the moment experiencing the annual injury crisis which means a lot of the "B" team if you like have been promoted. Thus it is unlikely we will play a strong squad at all, infact you might actually win this one. I suspect our team will read something like this!

--------------Cudicini
Walker Bassong Kaboul Townsend
---------Livermore Carroll
--------GDS Ceballos Falque
------------Pavluchenko

Fredricks, Kane, Coulibaly and Bostock might also be involved in the team.

If A first teamer is viewed fit enough I suspect they might get some time as a way to regain fitness.

We have a lot of big games coming up, so not many of our regulars willplay. Maybe someone like Assou-Ekotto or Kranjcar might be involved but I see it unlikely. I am firmly putting my money on a draw, probably goalless.

Fuck sake, Davo. Why don't we try and win the thing or get as far as we can in it? It's a bloody European competition. We've only had 1 season of Champions League football and you think we're too high and mighty for this one? All European competition is good and as Brett said, we aren't coming fourth anyway.

Yllos, top stuff mate. This is what I love about football and European competitions, it brings people together to share their football and culture. It's what football should be like.

I wish your boys the best of luck in the group. Obviously though, not against us

Pablo garcia was banned so he didn't played and Fotakis,Athanasiadis are not 100% ready so they didn't played at all!Athanasiadis top Paok's scorer might not be ready for the EL match!Lazar played 20 mins did well but it would be dif to play a whole game!so as you can see we are talking about 4 first team players!

maybe GDS in where defoe is and maybe townsend in for bale, but Harry SHOULD NOT drop all the kids in from the start. Away in greece can be a tough one, so take it seriously.

BTW -- is gomes injured, or truly 3rd choice now?

Blackburn came badly unstuck against Larissa three-four years ago, and I should think PAOK are a deal stronger than Larissa. Harry will have Sunday in mind, and it's odds-on some of our first choices will start on the bench, but sending out a bunch of kids is asking for trouble.

thanks for this! i have a bit of a soft spot for PAOK as i went on a few holidays with my parents to halkidiki in greece about 12 years ago now, which i think isnt too far from thessalonika i dont think. Anyway, the owners of the hotel were massive PAOK fans, and i got on really well with their son. And on the day before we went home, they bought me a home shirt to take with me. And i still have it to this day! I remember they all used to rave about a player called vryzas? (not sure if thats spelt right!) but yeah, happy memories!

If thats the case I suspect Kane will start in a 4-4-2.

The truth is Liverpool is a very important game for us. while this is a game we can afford to lose and still make it past the group, we have a lot of injuries and flying some of our players to greece on a Thursday, to come back on the friday, to have a single day of rest before playing one of the most important games of the season would be suicide. I want to win the Europa League, but I would rather take the risk on this game, knowing we can afford to lose it, rather then having a team thats simply not ready against liverpool.

For once I agree with Harry;

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14871080.stm

Bang on and he explains exactly why these games are a joke.

I wonder if all the people adamant we aren't gonna finish in the top 4 after 2 games are so confident now? I think we will anyway, it's what we have to go for. With the amount of games we'd have to play in the Europa, it would come down to choosing either or. Try our best to win the Europa and finish God knows where in the league, or actually go for the league and run the top 4 all the way and try to get in to proper European football again. I know what I'd pick. If we were to match last seasons efforts plus pick up some more points against the lower sides then that should be good enough I reckon - and that's easily possible. We are a really strong side but too many people were panicking after losing to the two strongest sides in the league with a whole host of key players out. But thats Spurs fans, eh...

yep, it sure is,... look at the squad to pick from,... a real roll of the dice:

Spurs (from): Gomes, Cudicini, Archer, Bassong, Corluka, Walker, Waller-Lassen, Livermore, Townsend, Fredericks, Carroll, Nicholson, Parrett, Pavlyuchenko, Dos Santos, Falque, Kane, Lancaster, Pritchard.

let's hope the kids are allright
