I think it just shows that we're still committed to improving the academy. Makes sense considering we let go of Lesniak.

It also makes us more calm about Barkley. We can let that run until deadline day and make Everton sweat knowing we already have another midfielder signed.

Still puzzled as to why we let Lesniak go. Does anyone know why ie attitude, not working in training etc? And has he found a new club yet?

Everything I've read and seen suggest he is similar to Kante. So he could be seen as box-to-box but his main qualities are his pressing, tenacity, tackling etc..

Says himself he's an 8, but does like the defensive side too, I'll link the article when I get time

I know nothing about him other than a few clips but he seems like a Gueye/Kante type

I don't see the point of this signing.
I think it's fairly simple, Celta's former manager is a Bielsa disciple and former teammate of Poch's. I'm sure he tipped Poch off that this lad is a big talent who fits the system and would be available cheaply.

He's still a teenager and barely features for Celta, so he's not being bought for the first team this season. This is just a matter of snapping up a talented youngster at a good price.

for 8-10 million, why not? If Poch thinks he has potential go get him. Just get someone else that can contribute right away, too.

Yep - this is a win-win deal. He comes and plays well then we benefit - he comes in and isn't great then we sell him on next season for a profit (the way the transfer market is going). Hoping it's the former of course.

Thing is I think we have great talent in our academy/team and have more a lack of proven players as options to cover Eriksen, Dele... NOW.
For me it is too much of a gamble to put a 19 year old spanish guy in the first team and hope he adapt fast enough.

FFS think of Danny who will have trouble to spell his name correct on google.

I for one love the fact that we're still signing young prospects like this. We can't just rely on the talent we have to come through and come good. If the likes of Onomah are good enough they will make it here. Same for this lad if we get him. Competition for places all at levels is important. The more prospects we have the more likely some will come good.

Good grief, just looked at Diops Youtube videos. I know they can be misleading but if those are his better bits then I'm totally underwhelmed and a bit worried if there's nothing better in our own youth system.
