I think it's fairly simple, Celta's former manager is a Bielsa disciple and former teammate of Poch's. I'm sure he tipped Poch off that this lad is a big talent who fits the system and would be available cheaply.

He's still a teenager and barely features for Celta, so he's not being bought for the first team this season. This is just a matter of snapping up a talented youngster at a good price.

He said the same about GKN & he's struggled to make an impression.

Good grief, just looked at Diops Youtube videos. I know they can be misleading but if those are his better bits then I'm totally underwhelmed and a bit worried if there's nothing better in our own youth system.

I guess from the ratings that I watched the wrong video clips.

Seems like an option for the future rather than for now which is fine but we do need a wide forward in some capacity.

Not sure I really understand our targets so far this window but I'm happy for us to take a punt on some young players in positions where we have sufficient quality ahead of them.

I thought Sanchez was a weird target, but he was at least a world class talent. This guy is not playing in a position that we need and is not setting anything on fire. I suppose Levy likes his punts on promising targets, but can't see this guy making an impact. Hope he isn't included in the 3-4 players that we want according to ITK.

Agree, very strange. Looks like a a player who's only going to block game time for winks and Onomah

Not Winks. Seems like backup for Wanyama really and not sure we have that elsewhere so sort of makes sense.

I think Poch is yet to be convinced by Onomah so maybe this is confirmation of that.

Surely Dier is back up for Wanyama.

Very different players and Dier is also likely to be called into a back three regularly.

It's all about having options really so if he offers another option that's good, as with Barkley and Sanchez.

I just think the attacking wide player is the most important position we need to strengthen in with Lamela still out, and that looks like the area we won't strengthen in.

Cannot emphasise how important getting this right is.

Could not agree more. We are up shit creek in this department. And it will haunt us until we remedy it. It's been going on so long now that we cannot brook any more excuses.

We really just need Lamela back fit.

If this kid is still only 19 it seems to me that Poch is not only building our current team, he's building the next one too.:)

I get everyone wants a fast goal scoring winger. But for the level we're at it's hard to find a quality one. There are plenty at GKN level but hardly any like Mane/Sane/Sanchez etc quality.
