That team they had in the late 90s was ridiculously good. Shame they got picked apart like Dortmund have been.

Wasn't that team part owned mostly by Juve & Milan? I'm pretty sure in the Moggi era Juve were using Parma as a second team with loads of part owner deals going between them.

Italian football is so crooked it makes Blatter look like an angel

Yep. That's why I don't understand it when fans say we need to speculate to accumulate. And Leeds was a one off. So far it has been Leeds, Portsmouth, Liverpool, Chelsea (they both were just lucky enough to get new owners that put money in) Hull, QPR, Derby, Ipswich, Southampton, Crystal Palace, and half the teams in Europe that have faced severe financial problems.
FFP was brought in for a reason and that is why teams agreed to it. The big teams to cement their place and reduce the chance of a City or Chelsea popping up and the rest to have some security. Unfortunately it will take a while for clubs to sort themselves out and Parma will not be the last to go under.

Rangers too

We're not exactly debt free. We still have the 350m bridge loan from the tax cheats that is tied to the stadium while we search for a naming rights deal and wait for the new tv money to kick in, though

eh?

Not the first time it's happened....
AAC Parma were declared insolved in 2004 and reformed as Parma FC - yet were allowed to remain in same division.

I'm not seeing anything anywhere that confrms they have actually gone under though.

They haven't, their owner failed to pay the latest loan instalment leading to seizure of club assets though and is going to bankruptcy court tomorrow.

Nice statement from the Samp owner:

Rangers too

Rangers made a ridiculous tax avoidance scheme up that fell flat on its face. They deserved what they got imo.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer club.

"Between the summer of 2013 and the summer of 2014, Parma took part in over 450 player transactions - purchases, loans, co-ownerships and sales."

450 player transactions in a year?!?!? Absolutely ridiculous...

That's like a world where Harry Redknapp is given free reign. They have hundreds out on loan. Not sure what the point of it is.

Imagine the agent's fees!

Not wanting to start a whole debate on Rangers but your statement is factually inaccurate.

Seems they haven't been dissolved yet but this article (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31646944) shows how bleak their future is.

In order to play Genoa on Sunday a bus company is providing them with a free bus and Genoa have even offered to pay for their accommodation.

Shameful. Utterly shameful what has happened to the club. Been sold for 1 euro twice in the matter of months. And the fact the new owner who bought the club for 1 euro is in charge of a company with a capital of just 7500 euros is a shambles. They need a savior so badly. Really hope they find a proper owner to save it.

Read that article if you want to know just how truly dire the situation has become. Feel terrible for the players and staff. Ugh

You cannot compare any team in England to teams outside of England going forward.

The chance of a non-relegation worthy team in the EPL going into administration in coming years is going to be minimal. The amount of television revenue that will start flowing to teams in the top 8 is going to be unprecedented. The bottom team in the Prem will likely earn 4 times what Parma earned last season in their Serie A deal (60-70 million pound difference), they'll likely earn nearly 4 times what Arsenal earned in television revenue in 2008, and probably 10 times what Leeds earned 15 years ago. That's why you see the likes of Everton, Hull, and West Ham spending 30 million pounds net, and that was on the basis of a television contract that had rights which aren't anywhere near as lucrative as what 2016 will bring. The speculating to accumulating aspect of the transfer market is going to explode in the coming years, which will lead to strong EPL squads across the board. Not spending anything by choice will probably lead to relegation for bottom of the table side (see Aston Villa).
