While I don't know if I approve of it I think that if Pau comes, Vorm goes and Pau is our new #2.
No thanks, as highly rated as he might be in Spain, he's untested in England and you usually find when keepers fail to adapt it is more costly than on any other area of the pitch.

Vorm has to remain no2 for me, no point in getting rid when Lloris will likely remain our keeper for the next 4 or 5 years yet. Let's be honest, unless he's ridiculously good, Pau isn't going to topple Lloris. There will be plenty of good keepers we can sign when Lloris is finished.

I agree to a certain extent but at some point you need to give a young keeper a chance to prove himself and working closely with Lloris while being called upon to deputize when needed could prove useful to his growth. If anything I trust our coaches who's seen him in training for the last year and if they think he could do Vorm's job then I won't be against it.

Just too much of a risk for me. Imagine if Lloris was out for a couple of months. Are people comfortable with us potentially going a whole CL group stage say with Lopez in goal? I say if it's not broken don't fix it for now.

I see your point and as I said, I agree to some extent. Sometimes it's about being proactive and not reactive though.

I'm not comfortable doing it with Vorm neither, either will be a big drop in quality and could be costly.
Our coaches will know whether Pau is ready to perform when needed at same level as Vorm.

I agree regarding the coaches but surely they realise he will be instantly targeted by our opposition. I don't think any amount of coaching can prepare for a potential Tony Pulis set piece onslaught for instance. There is no way to replicate the aggression and desire of the opposition in a training ground scenario in my opinion. You also potentially have the kid being afraid to make mistakes and you have to be brave as a goalkeeper.

It makes much more sense to play him in the League cup and for our U21s in the EFL trophy where he will likely come up against more balls pumped into the box and aggressive set piece tactics. I think we should keep Vorm for now and if Pau impresses in those games then we can always get a fee for Vorm in January if he's no longer needed.

Reckon Peterborough have moved on, they didn't want to wait until August to see what happen with McGee.
While we made demand that McGee is to go on a pre season tour with us to the US and be assesed before we make a loan decision.

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire last month that their pursuit of Luke McGee had been abandoned following talks with Levy.

“I spoke to Daniel Levy myself and he said that they’ll most probably sell him, but it won’t be until August,” Fry said to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. “I passed the message on to the manager and the chairman, and they have told me to move on.”

Good old Barry Fry never could keep his mouth shut. Did he really think Levy told him that so it could be passed on to the rest off th world ?

I've seen next to nothing of Lopez but what i think is a bit odd about our sub keeper scenario is McGee's situation. Surely if we're looking for a young no. 3 who might step up to no. 2 in the coming 12-18months, is he not a shoe in? Potentially even ahead of Pau Lopez?

After only the announcement was missing, Tottenham transfer now said to be off

Sunday was a great day for Pau Lopez. The goalkeeper got married and, more importantly for the purposes at hand, it was reported Tottenham and Espanyol had started talking again about a deal.

Not only that, Spanish newspaper Sport said an agreement was ‘very close’, an announcement was said to be on the way, and Pau would finally, FINALLY, be a Tottenham player on a permanent basis.

Sport claimed a deal would be done at €2.5m, which managed to please both clubs.

Doves were released into the air and a fat lady warmed up her vocal chords. Hurrah, the end is nigh!

But no, it’s not to be, explain AS.

Ruining the happy ending, AS say Tottenham’s interest may well be reborn, but the word from Espanyol is: ‘Pau stays’

Roberto Jimenez is off to Malaga, and Pau will now be second choice behind Diego Lopez. Then he can leave for free in a year, perhaps to Tottenham speculate AS.

To Pau, this transfer has seemed like china in his hand.

So he'll sign for us in January then.

About 90% certain I saw Pau walk out at hotspur way on the the Spurs official Snapchat.
Possibly an agreement in place similar to GNK?

I'm also certain the near keeper of the group in that picture is pau, with McGee released, this is done.

Pretty sure that is Whiteman and not Pau.

Here is my favourite ever ITK...

I know someone that works for a property management company who deal with quite a few high end places, including some let to footballers. Apparently Pau Lopez is the first player they've dealt with who was entitled to his entire security deposit.

I reckon the reason we delayed so long on Gazzaniga was waiting to see if Espanyol would come down on price. They didn't, so we've looked elsewhere.

Well Vorm is linked away now. Though I believe it's just speculation combined with him being suggested earlier on Palace forum. If we got good money for him then maybe Levy would be more tempted to spend some on Pau

I still want him but...

I really don't think Levy will pay what he is worth.

At the moment. He is no.1 at Espanyol. I think Deigo Lopez is injuries? So not sure what happens when he get backs. Both are IMO good enough for the first team. And they already sent their 3rd GK out on loan till next season, so it's very unlikely they plan to let Pau leave now.

Thinking long term.... If we see him as the future successor to Hugo.... Then I don't think there is a better place to learn your trade as in a team with serious competition for the position. Personally I would rather we signed him and loan him back, but we could be just allowing his contract to run out.
