I would rather / could see us going for one of the ex Chelsea defenders to sort the HG issue - Guehi or Tomori , but I’m sure any deal would be very complicated due to first options / buy backs with Chelsea

Lenglet will do better in central role IMO, similar to De Vrij, sit back and spray passes to others. Think we go for another LCB, maybe CCB if we miss out on all do them and then Lenglet is used to cover Davies.

Part of me wonders whether we are after one of the ex Chelsea guys (Guehi hopefully) - smart play would be to wait until Chelsea buy their pricey new CBs (Ake/Kounde/Kimpembe) and then see if Boehly will toss $ down the tube like Roman just to spite us (hopefully not)

It’ll be really interesting to see how Chelsea operate this season. Don’t know who they’ll go for but we must box clever to get our targets. They need defenders and I so want us to get an elite defender. It’s like my biggest dream and I don’t want them to spoil it.

I don’t think Lenglet is suited to the central role at all. His standout quality defensively is how much he gets out and pressures opponents. He is one of the best in Europe at this, where as he looks a bit fumbling when he plays on the back foot. Can’t see him playing anywhere but the left.

Maybe I'm wrong here, but didn't the Spurs regime give Abramovich a blank when he tried to buy the club in 2003, which resulted in our club living rent-free in his head from that point on?

Boehly doesn't have that history with us, although it wouldn't surprise me if people at Chelscum have marked his card over the last few weeks.

He is terrible at tackling and playing wide he would be isolated 1v1 against wingers and we would be in HUGE trouble. Why wouldn't he be suited to central roll at all? De Vrij was great there and Lenglet is similar. We have Romero for pressuring opponents, plus Bissouma and another DM.
