Well, start of the window (or at least once Basrtoni was out) I’d have thought it’d be Torres or Lenglet. However, I can see the theory behind both, would give us the balance 3 right footed CB’s and 3 left footed CB’s.

Now it's Spursonal

Not being discussed at all! Other targets in mind, if they are gettable.
Seeing as everyone seems to be saying that Lenglet is a stop gap for the likes of Gvardiol and Bastoni next year, its likely that means we're targeting a CCB.

That opens up the possibilities of a lot of center backs that we wouldnt have even considered on this sight yet

Torres, Lenglet and Spence would be an incredibly underwhelming attempt to strengthen our two most alarming areas of weakness

Cool. Kulu and Bentancur were also underwhelming additions and it all worked out. I’m gonna trust that Conte and Paratici know what they are doing.

Latest message in the transfer ticker:

No time to sleep = no time to rest
If time = t
Torest - t (no time)
=Tores

which is closer than a lot of the cryptics we have had recently

All signs in the media have pointed to Bastoni, Gvardiol and Bremer being our 3 main CB targets. Will be interesting what we do if all 3 are unachievable. Will we move to Torres or even try for De Ligt? Or neither and keep Rodon or Japhet?
I bet we bring in the Ukranian kid if/when Rodon goes.

Really don't get that?? Let's say Lenglet is for lcb and Torres ccb... Dier and Davies were superb last season so aside from cover hardly alarming. I'll give you rwb tho.

Yes I trust them to know what they are doing but this is the opinion I hold right now. Obviously hope they work out.

Hercules in transfer ticker says we are not discussing Pau Torres at all.
Looking at other targets.
I know, I saw the ‘no time to sleep ‘ comment in the ticker and thought that as everything posted by ITK is assumed to be a cryptic, I would construct one as a joke. It worked out really well for Torres so I shoved it in here rather than the transfer rumours thread because I am a good SCer and know not to spam up that thread ?

This just all feels like it’s heading to Torres and Lo Celso in some sort of swap deal. Having Davies, Lenglet and Torres as left footed options, and Dier, Sanchez and Romero as right footed options provides decent balance.

Have a feeling if Torres-GLC was on it would've been done by now. Not sure Torres wants to join us.

Three left footed and three right footed CBs doesn't necessarily mean balance, when only one of them suit the central role.

Pages back we learned that he doesn’t and weeks ago ITK explained that while swaps look easy when typed out, in practice we rarely see them because of the complexity involved.

Think you'd be surprised how many could easily play that central role.

Well, it didn't look good when Sanchez and Romero tried. Davies can't. I dont see Lenglet or Torres qualities suiting the role neither. First of all it's their passing game that makes them stand out to other candidates, with us knowing Conte wanting the LCB to contribute going forward. The central role in many ways is the plug of the defence. Need someone with discipline, who can read his other CBs positioning and is ready to die in that hole. You dont want an erratic defender there, or a soft passing style defender. It's a key role for us, it's in many ways the one that holds the team together.
