Ashley and Kelmsley are mates.

Ashley was always touted as being a Spurs fan.

The Michael Owen rumour may have some legs. A deal doesn't have to be announced after deadline night even if it has been signed.

And has made it very clear that he isn't, and never was.

That is a very interesting reply from Barber. Also would infer that we will only be playing 1 upfront, with three attacking midfielders in support.

Thats exactly what i was thinking. When you think about it that way, Modric, Giovani and Bentley for Keane and Malbranque is a good improvement. Pavyluchenko is better suited to the lone striker role as Berbatov likes to drop off. And we've signed a great defender in Corluka, and got a top class keeper in Gomes. All in all its great business. Would have loved a top class striker but i think a lot of Spurs fans ask a bit too much in the transfer window. Maybe because we get linked with so many players. But i think it makes sense if we only have 1 up front.

Apart from in Europe that is Eek Doh!

I'm quite well known for making a prank call or two and I am thinking of calling him back to have a reasonable discussion, however it might be more productive to just email him.

Someone pointed out that Pav's name is spelt wrong in that email and I noticed that Giovani is spelt wrong as is Fraizer...

Spelling 3 players names wrong? Really? From someone who comes across like Barber does? I don't buy that it's real.

Ben's saying that he got the same email as are quite a few people. Did anyone here get a copy of it? If so can you please forward it to [email protected]

I'd like to take a look at the original as I think it's a fake. You don't reply like that in person to everyone who's emailed you before putting out an official statement and Barber would surely pass it off to PR before doing so.

We didn't get another striker or anyone better for the following reasons...

a) Berbatov deal wasn't tied up in time. We didn't want to spend over the odds if he was going to end up staying.

b) United only offered £22m until very late last night, meaning we wouldn't sell him unless we got a better offer.

This is from my guy. I know with how the general reaction amongst some today has been bad, especially towards ITK info, but I'm posting this is good faith. Take it or leave it. Expect signings in January.

Sorry, "corporate bollux" was the reply there.

Seemingly, 1 player (Keane) has been replaced by 4 players, one on a season-long loan.

Don't think the PL will be happy with us saying we ought to play an extra load of players, because we see them as a replacement for just one of ours.

Christ, it was always obvious that Manure were going to come in with a better deal. Levy just isn't that dumb.

Agreed

I mean cmon, Man Utd were ALWAYS going to come up with the cash, we asked for £30 million minumum, but yet they chucked in a extra £750,000 just for good measure along with a player on loan.

Our planning in this while fiasco has been shocking, we should not have waited on berbatovs very much pending transfer to united to try and get a player, we should have bought a replacement KNOWING berbatov would be on his way out.

Levy knew this imho, so im beggining to think the reason we did not spend more cash is because of balancing the books, even after berbs transfer to united we are in a 7.6 million profit. Had we spent the £20 odd mill needed to bring in a quality replacement we would have been in the negative, something I dont think levy wants.

I'm still waiting for any of the supposed hundreds of people that have received that email from Barber to forward a copy to me. So far nothing yet.

While I feel we are perhaps a striker light (especially in Europe) The Jan transfer window is not a million miles away and I can see some talent being brought in then to bolster an already strong team.

Jesus guys lets just see how it goes before moaning about it eh.....

All I have read most of today on these forums from (so called) Spurs supporters is 'moan moan moan' and I wouldn't mind if it was with regards to our poor start to the season, but it is not, its all about the transfers.:shrug::shrug:

When are some people gonna get it into there head that we currently ARE NOT a champions league club and despite history etc do not carry the same prestege therefore we must accept that some of our more quality players may want to play CL football at some point. Keano and Berba for example. We did not sell either by choice yet some of you think that is what we have done...Man honestly...wake up!

I think we have done some excellent business this window considering and brought in some real quality. Yes we're perhaps a striker light but lets just see how it goes first before condemning the board and the club.

If come January we are not scoring many goals you can bet your arse we'll correct it in the next window. Trust me, it really ain't that bad and could be a hell of allot worse!

We have introduced allot of new players into the team and it will take a little time to gel them. This season, if we finish a convincing top 6 and have a good cup run, perhaps a domestic trophy, I will be VERY happy personally and will look forward to top 4 next season.

Please lets just be realistic.......

We are stronger defensively and in midfield than we were last season. I think anyone would be hard pushed to deny that.

But we are weaker up front than we were last season. I think anyone would be hard pushed to deny that.

We've had a bad start and we're waiting for our new players to gel. The Chelsea result and performance were very encouraging and we can be hopeful that things will get better and we'll finish in the top 6.

But why wait and see how it goes before having a moan? We're a striker light, you said so yourself so IF (and it's a big if ) we do fantastically well between now and January, then it's more by luck than judgement. A couple of injuries to key players (Bent, Pav) and we're struggling especially in the UEFA Cup were Pav is cup tied.

We have enough money and we didn't sign another striker. Fact. I'm not blaming anyone I'm dealing in facts. People are disappointed and they have a right to be, especially after so many years of glorious failure.

I remember when Man Yoo and Spurs were similar sized clubs. I remember Gazza choosing us over them. I remember us beating them 3 times in one season, twice at OT. I remember us finishing 10 places above them in the league. Who was there manager at the time? Alex Ferguson.

Everytime we take 2 steps forward we take another one backward. We're so close this year to really getting things right, maybe only another one or two players away from really pushing for the top 4. Well done to Levy and co. generally I think they've done a good job, but I'm a football fan and I want to see us make it. And today I don't feel any closer to that and I'm fed up with it. 20 years ago almost to the day Gazza signed for Spurs. 3 cup wins later and I'm still waiting for things to happen for us - and I can't wait much longer.

Saying 'trust me' really isn't gonna persuade anyone is it?

And reality is subjective especially in a situation like this......
