Was at a wedding at the weekend & was speaking to a relative of our very own goalkeeper Paul Robinson. He said to me that Paul has no intention of leaving Spurs & will be going head to head with the new signing Heurelho Gomes to win the right to be the Tottenham no.1 next season. He loves being at Spurs & wants to spend the rest of his career here, he knows things have gone badly for him the last couple of years but is ready to put that all behind him & win back the hearts of all Tottenham & England supporters.

I remember when he first signed, i think it was for something ridiculous like £1.5m from Leeds, seemed liked the bargain of the decade first season - last couple though i think he's lived up to the price tag if you ask me !

These days contract means diddly squat! but he did sign that uber long contract, so he must love Spurs and I can see him being part of the fixture & fittings @ the lane. lol

Cool, I hope this is true but why the heck he isn't in Spain training with other lads

IMO Robinson will not leave the Lane for any old tat, hence the alleged rejection of West Brom. I do believe that if a Villa, West Ham or Boro come knocking , he will jump at the opportunity. As of yet, it appears that we have had few, or if any offers for him.
Robbo ain't silly and he will realise that Ramo's has shelled out £8m for Gomes and he will be his first choice initially and probably always. Does Robbo, sit back on the bench and allow his career to fester, or does he look for a move... A no brainer IMO

I don't think it's in his interests. He's had ample opportunity to fight for his place and to improve his form, but he hasn't managed it. I still believe that Robbo's problem is a mental one rather one of skill. I believe that he needs to change his surroundings if he wants to recapture the thing that made him England's No. 1 in the first place. Perhaps going on loan for a year may help him rediscover his form.

Surely the arrival of a new keeper is a mental kick up the arse? I hope he stays and fights it out, it would be to our benefit to have two keepers who both think they should be top dog.

Don't care if you got it straight from his mum, dad and favourite uncle, Ramos has bombed the guy out the club, its just a matter of time before a decent club comes in for him.

For Christ sakes Bostock is barely 16 and was taken to Spain, how humiliating is that for Robbo..

He won't go anywhere that he won't be first-choice, and realistic options are strictly limited—really, just Boro are left, unless Guzan's WP falls through and Friedel leaves Blackeye. He might as well be back-up at Spurs as anywhere else.

There was an unconfirmed report that the reason he's not in Spain is that he's carrying some sort of injury.

But you could argue that he had that when he was dropped in favour of Cerny last season and it didn't really help all that much.

I was wondering the other day if we might be willing to keep hold of Robinson and Rocha, since we still haven't got a 2nd keeper or an experienced backup CB. They could both be good squad players for us this season, and that would mean we only really need a defensive midfielder and maybe 1 more winger (which is looking like Bentley.) I know Ramos wants his 1st team together asap.

Although i'm surprised Robbo isn't in Spain. If theres any chance of him staying then he needs to be with the rest of the squad training. Unless he's injured of course.

But he now has that season behind him. New season, new start?

He likes the Club, signed a long deal on handsome money (when he was our and England's number 1), settled in London, has a young family... so what if he isn't getting regular starts. He can still be happy with his life and the money he is getting. Why would he WANT to move?

Rocha is shit and even Hull bottle this one on the basis he's too short, which is an excuse for being shit and having a high salary, for which we can't afford for someone who ain't that great

If he still thinks he's trying as hard as he could do then I'm sure he would have no guilt! Plus less chance of being hassled when being out.
