I think we should just focus on the players we do have. It didn't happen but we move on now.
Plenty of top players at this club and 3 excellent signings. I can't wait for the new season!

Just to clarify, he actually wasn’t on a wind up, he genuinely believed it was him. Our WhatsApp group have persuaded him it wasn’t him due to tattoos, hair, non-footbally legs, London, basically everything.

I thought he knew everything. I’m quite happy I was wrong. ? he actually tweeted Spurs with the pic!

Apologies. This never happened, ok? ?

It cracked me up big time, couldn't stop laughing. I really thought you had it up as joke, but you believing made it all the more funny.
In fairness bar the hair, legs and terrible shoes, it could have been him. Anyway thanks for the laugh mate, I needed it. I'm laughing typing this.

Indeed. We must keep our profile high though. Another deep run in the CL would be most welcome.

Not remotely suggesting this would happen, but if we really, really wanted him and are worried that Juventus will ship him off somewhere else this window, then I *think* it would still be possible to buy him now and leave him on loan at Juventus until January. Derby announced a deal for Rooney the other day that doesn't actually go through until January.

Like I say, chances of that happening are probably about zero, though!

Btw, does anyone know how Dybala could possibly wipe his ass with some sneaky Maltan imageshit contract? Is he like tied for the rest of his life to those fckers?

Basically, it looks like it.

It wouldn’t have been so hard for a non-English club to buy him, because it’s FA rules that are especially hot on prohibiting major image-rights ownership (or any other third-Party stake) but it might not be quite such a problem for a French club, for example....particularly one that might be selling a player like Neymar, just to pluck a name out of the air...

We can’t buy a player with an image-rights deal like his, even if we then loan him out. We had to solve that problem before the deal agreed between us and Juve could go through....and that was and remains the intransigent (meaning stupidly fucking expensive) problem.

I ask because my Spurs supporting mate sent me the pic below and said it was def him by Liverpool St station around 445pm today. I thought he was mucking about but he swore it was him and said he 100% saw his face etc.

If true, how fucking close ??
Not footballers legs. More cyclists. Not him. (Like I know what he looks like )

Im more disappointed that Mel and the other ladies on twitter who promised to run naked down the high road if we got him - wont be running naked down the high road

Missed opportunity

Really feeling down that we couldn’t make this transfer happen. It was an opportunity to make a fundamental change at the club. We have done some incredible business obtaining 3 fantastic players but Dybala would have represented an established World a class player choosing us, which would have been a huge lift for the club’s mentality

It's a shame that the EPL rules on 3rd party stuff and the early closure of the transfer window have prevented us from going head to head with the rest of Europe to sign a player like Dybala. I think we could have beat them all to his signature.

It's beyond anything the club could do, so not really worth being 'down' about

Been thinking about this as well. I agree the chances are surely extremely slim but... how often does an established 25-year-old world class global superstar become incensed with his club for failing to secure a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur?

It's clear that the money and willingness is there to back Poch with this kind of signing, but it's exceptionally rare to find ourselves with this kind of opportunity. So much so that I could see Levy splashing the money even if it meant he didn't join us until January. A signing like this would be a long-term play from the club and four months may or may not be seen as worth the wait. If his image rights get sorted and he's able to move abroad I have a hard time seeing Levy's interest evaporate over one tenth or one twelfth of the length of the contract, especially because Juve would be picking up his wages until Jan.

Again I don't believe it'll happen but it's tantalizing to think about.

That was our window. To dybala, now he has 5 more months to think. No point rushing to sign now.
