Can’t see him being available in January. Juve want him shifted, and there are plenty of big clubs across Europe that can still sign players and would be really interested in getting him.

Really think this was a one off, the planets aligned and we had a shot at getting him, can’t see that happening again in January.

We've done well in this transfer window, especially given that we've pretty much signed all of Poch's reported top targets. This one, however, would have been the game changing transfer. So close, yet so far...

No use crying over it though. Onwards and upwards to a new season with some much needed fresh faces. COYS!!

If we still want him and time was the issue, I can't see why we wouldn't be able to negotiate something with Juve for an agreement to kick in January. Let's be honest if the reports that he was up for it are true and it was image right issues or Juventus being unable to risk selling him before bringing him in then from now until January gives the legal teams plenty of time to work something out.

Either way what will be will be but how far we've come that we are being genuinely linked with a player of his calibre says a lot to me about the genuine progress we have made.

Poch, Gazzaniga, Foyth, Lamela & Lo Celso, as well as the coaching staff. If Dybala wants a new challenge and an environment he feels settled in I can think of fewer places. Bayern and PSG the dangers for me, all others o think we are fine.

I think that's fair - if PSG or Bayern (maybe a few others) come in for him, then surely he'll go.

Otherwise with a bit of luck, we may get a second bite of the cherry...if we want it that is - we'll almost certainly be 15 points clear at the top by Jan...

Does anyone know if we are likely to pursue our interest for Dybala in the Jan window and maybe try and sort the image rights out. I've been unable to keep up with whats going on since the window closed (work/family).

Completely agree. It seems clear he was being encouraged to leave. We seemed to be the perfect club for him in his eyes. Our stock was at its highest being Champions League finalists. He must have desperately wanted to play for Poch alongside fellow Argentines. It’s very difficult to then play for a club knowing that they wanted you out, as remarkable as that is. He’ll psychologically want out ASAP. Club and player will want resolution by the end of the European window. Unless....his image rights still can’t get resolved given we were supposedly working on it for 3 weeks.

That’s our only hope .....

Unfortunately for us I think the image rights thing is much less of an issue outside England.

Agree with most of your post.
I suspect the bold part may have an alternate explanation.

We may not have spent the money on Fernandes for the following reasons.
The fact that we came so, so close to signing Dybaba encourages me to believe that Spurs feel this deal still has legs & we may not be waiting until January to do it.

Levy & his team are probably still exploring options to resolve the 3rd party rights.
Once that is dealt with, I expect a quick deal.
We'll have our player while PD stays at Juve until January.

PD seemingly refused much higher wages at MU so he may not be all about the money.
The same may be said about PSG.

I guess it depends on how much PD wants to come to us & how willing Juve are to wait.

Id love for you to be right about Dybala. Not going to count on it tho.

I hope our Argentinian contingent have a Watsapp group set up with Dybala & are telling him to hold out till January. Wishful thinking that a deal can be done for then & that Juve will play ball again (seeing tuttosports - who first reported our bid are reporting that Juve are pushing for an Icardi <> Dybala swap) but I'm 349 pages invested in this dream and I can't get out. Inception/limbo feels over here right now so I won't be giving up hope just yet :ROFLMAO:

Side note: Very happy with the other deals we have done this summer as they all look top class and can't wait for this season to kick off tomorrow!

Id really like to think that we could use the time between now and Jan to sort out the image rights and bring him in in January - especially if we are up there and performing well both in CL and PL and cups etc... would be a catalyst for the second half of the season

Just not sure if Juve would be willing for that to happen and whether Dybala would really want PSG or Germany and Bayern

As image rights were the issue why not go for a left field answer to the problem and buy the whole company?

Save haggling over a single players rights, put in a large offer and recoup the money from the rights income but allow players to buy back them back.
