I think letting go of Eriksen and bringing in Dybala is a risky business.

As many have said before, Eriksen has proved for years that he is our most creative player in terms of assists in the Premier League. In fact, one of the best players regarding assists in the whole of the Premier League. For this reason, he is one of our top 3 or 4 most important players. If he’s willing to sign a new contract, I say better the devil you know.

Dybala is an unknown quantity, and the physicality and pace are completely different to Serie A - ask Erik Lamela. Sell Lamela and keep Eriksen, then we at least have a safety net should Dybala not be able to adapt well. The same way Sissoko is Ndombele’s safety net, it’s just the order of the food chain. If our new signings fail, we can turn to the players that did well last season. Selling Eriksen is a potentially massive risk and I’m not sure if taking the opportunity to sign Dybala now we have the chance is actually worth the sacrifice, if it is one of course.

Pochettino must be pulling his hair out not knowing if he’ll still have Eriksen for the start of the season. This must be so frustrating when preparing for a new season.

I completely get the argument that 2 full backs are more important than Dybala, too. Going back to the food chain, you could’ve tossed a coin which right back to sell really - Trippier or Aurier. Age wise, Serge probably came out on top in the end but I think we need to source a top replacement.

Dybala should be a potential transfer to work on once all other business is sorted IMO. Lo Celso & Sessegnon in and Wanyama & Nkoudou out, along with new contracts for Eriksen, Alderweireld & Vertonghen, with perhaps a new right back too if the opportunity arises for someone that we really want who’s available, should be prioritised first. Probably not financially viable but who knows!?

If we let Eriksen go it'll be because he's begging to go or threatening to leave on a free next season. Us letting him go will be because there's no other option.

Thanks for contributing to this

Someone had to say it mate!

*Edit, what I should have posted I guess was “Hopefully it’s him & Lo Celso but I wonder if this is a smokescreen or if we’re selling Eriksen, however he’s probably a bit overrated and it’s never going to happen, dream on, but he would piss off Kane and break our wage structure but Juve need the money and PSG want him but United need a striker and everything else that’s already been repeated ad infinitum for the last 20 pages because let’s face it we all want a signing and there’s very little ITK compared to previous years and we’re all a bit bored.”

Better?

It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out now.
I have been beginning to suspect that eriksen is indeed staying with us and therefore we have shifted away from his original replacement in lo celso and instead will look to get dybala instead.
Perhaps we always knew dybala was available but could not do it because he was not what we needed positionally but if eriksen is now staying then our preferences have changed.

They do say (RMC, not GFFN) that the Neymar situation is key to them moving for Dybala and that they also have to focus on Thiago Silva & Cavani's contract situation

Huge advantage that reports are saying Barca wants to draw it out as long as possible

Another advantage is the English window closing early. Let's say Dybala doesn't like what he hears from Sarri and decides he wants to move. His options for CL football and a raise are Tottenham and PSG. The option would be the Spurs offer that expires August 8 or waiting around for a PSG offer that never materializes.

All the ITK was aying that LoCelso coming in was not in any way tied to Eriksen leaving.

Wonder if Juve would be willing to sell Cancelo as well as Dybala, that would resolve the right back situation.

Also if Juve want Rose then I presume Sandro is off somewhere?

Perhaps so but we all should know that the footballing world does not move in a linear fashion. Poch may have changed his views having now got to see how ndombele is intergrating and fitting in to the rest of the team. Things change very rapidly in football so who knows. Eriksen may well be very aware of whats going on transfer wise and may have had a change of heart regarding madrid and wants to stay.

Its all guess work in truth but its just how I have been interpreting the way things are panning out. I think with the sums of money we have guaranteed ourselves with in the last couple of days may see us change to a bigger fish player wise. We may well have naming rights done and dusted and the right holders may want to see a significant signing as the way to ve maximise the exposure.

Who knows.

Juve close to selling Moise Kean to Everton for €40m apparently. Would this have an affect on their need to sell Dybala do we reckon?

Not in the slightest imo. Dybala firstly is far ahead in the pecking order than kean. Secondly kean plays as a wide forward which dybala ideally is not. He can play there but he is most suited to the width of the penalty area on the pitch.
Also i think that there is the ronaldo factor and that the team plays for him rather than what is best for the team.

I think he's referring more to the financial need to sell.

Not really a surprise.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but if Eriksen expresses a willingness to sign a new contract, I'd rather keep him and just sign Lo Celso too.

If Eriksen has to go, though, Dybala as his more direct replacement makes sense.
