I wouldn’t say that it’s clear at all. Last season we were down to minimal midfield numbers and had to play him there. Two pre season game doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to be played deeper.

It would also be idiotic to play him there as his real threat is his goal scoring ability. He’s wasted when played deep.
I completely agree with not moving him deeper, however it looks like it. Hope I’m wrong. Also pretty clear was probably the wrong phrase, I just feel that if we do sign Dybala (Big IF), Dele would be moved deeper, Dybala wouldn’t bench or play cm.

Comments on there that dybala is in advanced talks.
My first though was our plans have constantly been in flux due to decisions outside of our control.
First iteration was adding Lo Celso and Ceballos to replace Eriksen, but then Real not willing to allow Ceballos purchase option shifted things.
Then second iteration, the Eriksen / Real move appeared to cool and it looked like Eriksen was going to stay, so we’d end up with Lo Celso and Eriksen.
Now the third iteration, Dybala possibility has unexpectedly fallen in our laps, so now we have to rejig the plan, two from three out of Eriksen, Lo Celso and Dybala.
Slightly different options based on their skill sets and best positions. Eriksen and Lo Celso both seem capable of sitting in either bank of 3 in a proposed 433 formation, so add flexibility. Dybala more of an attacker, but arguably on another level?
Now the interesting bit, there was ITK yesterday that our deals have stalled due to shuffling the terms due to other options presented. Initially I thought that was the selling teams asking for change on terms due to their needs, but it may be us asking to juggle the terms to allow us to go after all three. It’s a bold leap, but given the timing of the new sponsorship deal also, plus the record profit season despite the new stadium, just maybe it’s an option.

DM/CM - Dier, Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko, Eriksen and Lo Celso, plus Skipp, and Alli & Lamela can slot in deeper.
AM/WF/CF - Lamela, Moura, Alli, Son, Kane and Dybala, with Eriksen and Lo Celso able to play AM also.
Quite fluid options.
Anyone on twitter claiming to be ‘ITK’, is not ‘ITK’.

Starting to think Dybalas been leaked to cover other deals dragging and keep us keen.
I think this would have the opposite affect on fans. As when perfectly good signings such as Lo Celso and sessegnon are completed fans will be disappointed because they aren’t Dybala.

Fair enough. If we sign Lo Celso and Dybala, Alli could soon see himself dropped. He was bang average last season. Him and Dier seem to have this idea that they are irreplaceable, mainly because we have never had any competition for them.

Castles has just clarified that the Dybala info is from Ian McGarry on his podcast. No idea how clued up he is but maybe more reliable?

Possibly, but would be a PR disaster if the fax machine breaks on deadline day and we've made only one major signing. The fans will be even more frustrated after talk of Dybala. Risky move if we aren't prepared to back it up.

What would be the point of that?

Dybalas really been our only new strongly linked player since June? Window shuts in 12 days.. Lo Celso and Sess been ‘close’ for over a month now yet nothing’s really happened.. Everyone’s starting to get a bit restless and want shit to start happening then boom massive player. Now all the media is spurs working on dybala so it’s deflecting the situation

I love Dele, think it would only be good for him and Eriksen to have competition for their spots and someone to come in for them when they need rest. I don’t want to judge either on last season as I think both honestly had too much asked of them with no rest

True.. I was very excited about Lo Celso coming in now if we just get him after Dybala it’s a bit merh when it shouldn’t be

I just hate that major business is all up in the air this late in the window. Will be a lot more relaxed when Sessegnon and Lo Celso are confirmed.

Yeah, bit pointless really.

I think most of us were very happy with the Sessegnon and Lo Celso incomings, I don't really recall anyone demanding an elite player over this summer. The theme as generally been "very happy with Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sessegnon & Eriksen staying".

Why would the club decide to upset that viewpoint by leaking info we are going for Dybala to fall short and end up with the aforementioned scenario, it will obviously leave some disappointed (even though we shouldn't be).

All a bit needless really, you want the fans and club to be going into the season buzzing with the incomings not "I'm disappointed we didn't get Dybala"

I think we've been approached by Juve, it's caused us to have a rethink, we are still pushing the Lo Celso and Sess deals along but we need to find a financial possibility to see if we can bring in Dybala. That financial remedy rests on what happens with Eriksen.

I reckon as soon as (if) Eriksen signs a new contract the Dybala talk stops.

I agree with this! I am/ was so excited for Eriksen to stay and we sign Lo Celso.

But now Dybala rumours have been leaked...... I cant think of anything but him running towards our single tier south stand doing that iconic celebration of his. Playing for us this time, not against us haha

No, he's full of shit.

Rules of Twatter ITK

1. Anyone claiming to be ITK clearly isn't.
2. Unless it's Levy himself, then proper ITK will come seldom. Anyone that posts 15 times a day either has a hotline to Levy, would be sacked within a day, or is plainly full of shit.
3. Anyone claiming to be ITK because they are "an agent" is definitely full of shit - why would they be telling everyone their deals and not getting on with their job of making actual deals to make money? Perhaps by "agent" they mean they work parttime for Kleaneaze?
4. Very few journalists get true ITK unless they are trusted by the club (they then tend to get news only about that specific club). Most Twatter "journalists" are merely aggregators that often aggregate fake ITK just to get hits. Most journalists make up shit anyway.
5. Twatter is full of ****s

Dybala is a classic 'we tried but it was too hard' optimistic signing. Echo of glory and all that.
In previous years I'd certainly feel that was the case but it does seem that Juve approached us about him not the other way. So I don't feel like we can really jump on the club about this. You've got to grab these opportunities.

Was just a pr stunt by the club imo, a little flex of the muscles. I don't think we are actually trying to sign him

Think LC and RS will move forward in the final week of the window.

Don't think our attack needs anything really. Our weaknesses was midfield and fullbacks last season no matter what flashy name arse sign
