Just came off holding his hamstring and went straight down the tunnel.

If that is indeed another hamstring injury, I really think we'll have to look elsewhere come the summer. Too much money to spend on a player who for whatever reason, unlucky or not, can't see to stay fit for an extended period.

Think we can cross this chap off the list. He clearly hasn’t got the resilience to play in our system.

Isn’t his injury record slightly shy of abysmal? Or am I thinking of someone else……
This will be his second hamstring injury of the season. Tbf he doesn’t have a history of hamstring injuries but two in one season.

That makes for from reading doesn't it?! Can't spend big money on someone with that history, he is quality when fit but likely to have missed close to 100 games in 3 seasons. Too big a gamble

I agree. I really wanted him, but at the same time I've always known he'd most likely have to stay fit for the remainder of the season for it to be considered a real option.

With this new injury, I'd go as far as to say I don't really want us to pursue him.

I’d say that up until this new injury i wouldn’t have been too worried. If you look at his injuries he doesn’t have many that are recurrent (it’s hard to tell the nature of the “knocks”). Even his two long term ones aren’t related. Further more none of them seem to have effected him much considering he has been clocked as the 4th fastest in the league this season.

But now he has two hamstrings in one season that is certainly cause for concern. I think we need to wait and see the outcome of his new injury but it’s certainly not ideal for someone who might cost 60 mil +.

We just can't afford to take that sort of risk. We aren't Chelsea we can't spend that sort of cash and not have the player as a starter as it hampers our spending so much elsewhere. No such thing as a guaranteed success when signing a player but there are red flags that you know before you sign them and this is one of them. This season could be a once off in terms of hammy but the risk for this sort of cash is just too much.

Two hamstring injuries in a season is cause for concern, more so than the previous injuries he had which were more just a case of bad luck.

Can’t help but wonder whether it may be better to go for Nico Williams instead and then also sign Johan Bakayoko.

I love Neto but another injury today definitely has me a bit more worried.

I don't understand why but someone said we aren't going for Williams at all? WLB? Maybe this will make us revise our preferences. Otherwise rumours would suggest we're going all out for Eze.

So we’re bale and Defoe, doubt it’d be a problem
Not really comparable mate. Arsenal weren't in for either at the time.

I may be completely wrong here but didnt Herc intimate that we have 0% chance of signing him?

Are there new Eze rumours?

Williams isn’t supposedly too keen on leaving Spain presently and also getting him would require us triggering his release clause and Levy is never a fan of paying large fees upfront. Essentially he isn’t supposed to be a realistic option for us. It’s the same reason I struggle to see us getting Eze who supposedly has a release clause that is over 60 mil.

Just checking because I don't know myself. Triggering release clause means that you definitely pay everything upfront? Not possible to have details in the contract that changes that?
