Following a year at Tottenham Hotspur, it seems Ivan Perisic could already return to Inter Milan. This possibility is today raised by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
It’s claimed that following a ‘not exciting’ season at Tottenham, who did not qualify for the Champions League, Perisic already sent ‘several messages’ about his comeback to the Nerazzurri.

I've no objection to this (not that that would matter to anyone) personally. A new beginning with exciting attacking football would not be served well by a player on his last season with us. Also, he is off the pace a lot so despite his assists I think we might be better to move on is someone comes in for him.

I will be content with him leaving and Udogie taking his spot.

In all honesty, am hoping he could be a leader or an old head to bring some stability and winning mentality to the dressing room. Seemed like there was nothing he could offer on that aspect at all.

I was hoping he’d have a Naybet type influence in our team, but I’d agree with you, that does not seem to have happened, with Sess, Udogie, Davies and possibly Regulion at the club next season, we’ve room to lose one or two anyway.

We’ll need to replace the assists. It clocked up to quite a few in the end, albeit a lot from set pieces. Still count. I wouldn’t be actively trying to get rid off him.

I won't mind if he stays for another season, but we'd be less reliant on his assists from LWB if we added someone like Maddison to the team. I haven't seen enough of Udogie to know what to expect in terms of assists, but Porro has added goals & assists from RWB (significantly higher output than Emerson or Doherty) since joining in January.

It was the number of goals conceded, not scored, that wasn't good enough this season. That's despite Son having his lowest scoring output for many years (Perisic playing on that flank may have been a factor), despite Kulusevski getting fewer assists, and despite our best / most creative CM (Bentancur) being out injured for months.

As some have said in other threads, he’d have been much better for us as a winger, or even for me if we’d played 4-2-3-1 putting him central behind centre forward where he could have focused on attack and not worried about defending so much, especially at wing back, which can be a tough role.

It's weird but for me he never ever felt a part of the club.

He had a strange aloof manner on the pitch.

Just not mobile enough to play wing back in the PL.

Totally agree with all of that except for Son. There is something more going on there imo, just doesn’t look the same player atm.

I think that was just the general mood at the time.lack of wanting to play for each other.

Probably coincidental, but Son scored two goals in the only CL game that Perisic missed, yet didn't manage a single goal or assists in the other seven CL games alongside Perisic.

Perhaps a more relevant comparison:
Under Conte - 14 goals & assists in 37 games (0.38 per game)
Post-Conte - 6 goals & assists in 10 games (0.6 per game)

He has been a huge disappointment and is not getting any younger. Would be pleased to see him go.

Disaster of a signing that kind of shows why you shouldn’t always give a manager carte blanche to sign who he wants. Imagine if we’d wasted money on Zaniolo too.

We all thought at the time of signing that he would be great to help Sess along with his development. Injuries to Sess meam we haven't seen if this is the case.

Half of me is now thinking maybe he can help with Udogie next season, but then not sure it's worth the squad place and presumably massive wages to justify another season from him to largely be a bench option.

Depending what source you trust, his salary is circa £175-200k per week, which is probably more than Davies + Sessegnon + Udogie combined! This means not keeping Perisic would allow us to maintain adequate depth at LB/LWB (3 first team players) while freeing up a big chunk of the wage bill for use on key signings in other areas (e.g. CB + CAM).

Only Kane, Son & Ndombele earn more than Perisic and Ndombele will surely be gone for good this summer.

Always assumed he was a stopgap signing with the view to becoming more of a backup/coach once Udogie arrived, so him leaving now Conte and his staff have gone makes sense.

The sooner he goes, the better. A limited player that contributed a modest amount on the pitch but seemed disinclined to share his vast experience with others. I would expect more from such a senior professional.
