Levy loves a surprise last minute deal more than any other chairman, hence the "Levy Special".What exactly is a ‘Levy Special’? I’ve heard this so many times in relation to last minute deals but bar VDV as you’ve said I’ve seen nothing to suggest why he should be renowned for this.
However, as you correctly state, that doesn't mean the signings are good nor that he actually pulls them off - simply that he loves at least trying to pull the rabbit from the hat and make an eye catching last minute move in the market.
- We nicked Sissoko from Everton last minute when we'd barely been linked most of the window.
- We nicked Dempsey from Liverpool last minute when we'd barely been linked most of the window.
- VDV - nuff said.
- He once famously tried to buy every single striker in Spain in a mad supermarket sweep on the last day of the window.
There have been countless other 'almost' deals and late chases that Levy has tried to swindle through with minutes left on the clock. He can't get enough of it.
