Not really buying it, however, Coutinho in on loan with option to buy could be the safety net option for Eriksen, so long as he’s alongside Lo Celso or Fernandes. No initial outlay incase Eriksen stays, but equally an extra option available if Eriksen gets sold after the window closes.

This would have been my wild card from the start of the window. I'd say our only chance comes from Barca wanting Eriksen and Coutinho being seduced by Pochettino, but you never know. I know he isnt the most popular, but I'd probably slightly prefer him to Dybala, as long as it was a permanent deal or a loan with a view to a permanent deal, just based on how he'd fit into our needs I feel, not that i'd be against Dybala either, there's not much in it. As always though, this is as long as Lo Celso was coming in too, not sure Fernandes would be the one if Coutinho was coming in, which makes me think he most likely isnt our focus. So its unlikely overall, and I can see Arsenal getting him on a loan and them going bananas, but we will see.

If it were Coutinho or Dybala? Coutinho all day. Know the league, knows the manager, knows what is needed and can deliver.

I wish either one would arrive. Sadly the wage demands and the knock on effect of our top earners will prohibit them joining.

Even after kicking on with Poch, it seems we’re still behind the curve financially in regards to others in the league. I don’t necessarily begrudge Levy for this. The business model is ran well and Poch is undoubtedly a world class manager.

We can only use what we have come Thursdays deadline. Let’s hope for another season like the one past!

There's no way he joins Arsenal. Clubs with Champions League etc. will be offering more. It's not like Ceballos where he's guaranteed game time; Coutinho would get into most top sides in Europe and drastically improve them.

Don't think Coutinho is on more than our current top earners and pretty sure Dybala is on less than that. I know Dybala has supposedly demanded more recently, but who knows the exact details of all this. Coutinho more than Dybala might be wanting the move due to the current situations and I don't think it would be that far-fetched that a deal could be done. With that being said, I do believe it is unlikely with all things considered. Id certainly be very satisfied with two out of three, the three being a committed Eriksen under a new contract, Lo Celso and Fernandes. Though a wild card option is always spicy.

I think Coutinho is on around £220k. Could cause a few contracts to go up.

Their alleged limited transfer budget is nothing but a smokescreen. They will be desperate for a top 4 finish next season and will invest to ensure that they have a decent chance to deliver this.

Odds slashed on Coutinho joining Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur
Bookies have slashed odds on Philippe Coutinho joining Tottenham Hotspur, following a string of bets on the move.
One bookie has cut odds from 40-1 just days ago, all the way into 5-1, that the forward makes the move to North London this summer.
That’s due to an influx of wagers placed on the prospective switch, with 26% of all bets in the market over the previous 24 hours placed on Spurs.
Elsewhere, Coutinho staying at Barcelona past the transfer window is the most likely outcome of the situation, with it priced at 1/4 that he remains at the Camp Nou.
Arsenal are surprise second-favourites for the Brazilian international at 4-1, followed by PSG at 8-1.
An Anfield renaissance is the next most likely at 9-1, although some bookmakers have priced a return as short as 3-1 to happen before the transfer window slams shut.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Spurs fans had expected the future of Christian Eriksen to be resolved by now, but will the playmaker now being strongly linked to a move to Old Trafford, rumours have surfaced that Coutinho is their first choice to replace the Dane.
"A move that seems to have sprung out of nowhere, the betting market is certainly indicating that it has a chance of coming to fruition."

They could always afford to spend, their owners simply didn't supply the cash.
