it is interesting how massive this game is to some/many people

to me i could think of several more important games since 1970 that we've played in

obviously each to their own, you feel as you feel

i guess the thought of getting to the qualifying rounds of the Champions lge just doesn't excite me in the way it does a lot of people

i think the competition is over-hyped and rarely watch it till the latter stages when it does get good -

naturally i'll be excited - indeed am excited now - but blimey two years after 1970 we beat ac milan in the semi final of the uefa cup en route to winning the thing - bigger than finishing 4th methinks -

For me DC its a huge game for the sake of our progression and momentum.

fair enough - but i think some people are getting way ahead of themselves

of course i want us in the CL qualifying games - but's that what this does, if we win, as well as the honour of 4th which is great of course as it's our highest prem finish

it is a huge game i agree but i don't rate it as big as say the 72 uefa games i highlighted, or the 81 final etc etc

I was born in '79 and sheltered from football until 1990, when watching the world cup I fell in love with the sport and Gary Lineker + Gazza.

That meant Spurs for me.

Since then there have been a lot of downs and now that I am having kids of my own I look on my team with an excitement that I have not had the pleasure of experiencing as often as the "older" members here.

The Champions League is currently the holy grail of club football, due to revenue and the players you can attract... IF.... IF Spurs can do it this season at the expense of Liverpool and Manchester City's Billions, then it would beat the Carling Cup win over Chelsea for me.

But either way, i am proud of Spurs this season for the way they have played (mostly) and the fact that we are in this position were come the last two games of the season, we can even still reach 3rd.

Good luck to the boys tonight, do yourselves proud... I will still love the club in the morning regardless of the outcome.

Or the 91 cup final either for that matter!

exactly - or the 91 semi-final which was just as big as the final in a way - as it was at wembley v the double-chasing arsenal

and beating them that day - and the way we beat them with that gazza goal meant soooooooooo much

why chas'ndave even wrote a song about it

'in the norf london cup they was only runners up, now they can't get the double up the arse-eenal

oh, we're off to wembley cos we beat the arse-eenal ...'

happy days :)

these are happy days too - let's do it and enjoy it :)

All these dreams about tonight, i dreamt the FA changed ours and their fixtures and we had to play liverpool at anfield!?:duh:

We were 3-2 down at half time but drew 3-3 in the end....All these 3's is it a sign?

Same, we MUST win but a draw will do. I want a win, I want to the players to believe and finally deliver. It's time to be Tottenham, proud and on where we truly belong. COYS!!!!

I am remarkably calm now, despite what it says under my username, but come kick off and especially the last 15 minutes if it is a draw, I'm not sure I'll be able to watch, if the Arsenal and Chelsea games are anything to go by.

Supporting Spurs should come with a health warning!

As the other lads said, there were other games that were just as big or bigger, cup finals etc, but this is history in the making for our club.

Oh God. Can we not get into a fussy argument about whether this is "our biggest game".

For a lot of non-decrepid Spurs fans this is a massive game. Can't you understand that pretty much every Spurs fan under the age of 30 hasn't had a taste of anything remotely "big-time". If you were born 30 years ago, you may remember the 1991 Semi against the Goons - I don't and I was seven.

So can you please empathise with the younger element and realise that tonight's game is fucking massive for them. Yes we know you've all seen Glory Days, DC. We haven't. Let us have our day.

Agree. I do remember '91, but was young enough that nerves didn't bother me as much and football didn't mean as much to me as it does now.

The Chelsea CC final extra time was pretty intense, this could match it.

Settle petal. DC doesn't mean anything bad by it as I don't. We are just sharing our experiences from yester year. After having supported Spurs for so long I tend to not get so tense about games anymore as year after year I am getting more likely to have a cardiac arrest! COYS:beer:

I'm off work ill today, I actually suggested to my dad I'd rather go in to keep my minmd off the game. Sky Sports News are even treating this like a cup final. Making me so nervous, stress that I really don't need!

I'm always nervous before a big match but I honestly can't remember ever feeling it quite so intensely. This game is immense and it's absolutely crucial that we win. I don't even want to contemplate the possibility of a draw. I know that my fingers will be badly nibbled by the final whistle.

Please give loud cheers on my behalf you guys who will be there. I'm hoping for a decent stream tonight and will be with you in spirit as always.

I'm having a hard time doing anything useful today. Fell asleep last night on the computer, staring at the league table for some reason, perhaps willing us to be cemented into fourth?

Doesn't help that the media is making a meal of it, they should have more respect for our frayed nerves.

Harry sure does enjoy talking to the papers, he's spouting forth on any and every topic, loving it, it seems.

The question is, how are the players? Which ones are going to rise their game, which ones will crack with the stress, most of them aren't used to such big games.

So nervous. I'm supposed to be getting ready to go to China tomorrow and sorting all the loose ends at work before going. It should keep me busy and take my mind off things but it isn't helping at all. I can't think about work at all, or going to China, everything is on tonight.

Agreed. But the tone of the post was to bring people down. Let the people get excited today. Let them be wild with their predictions and emotions. This is why we support our club - for days like this!!
