Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sign Pedro Porro for £39.5 million (€45 million) after they initially postponed his medical.Trying to find it but Times website is shit
Sporting refused to sign off a final agreement for the right wingback, claiming that they wanted Tottenham to cover £2.6 million of fees which they said they had to pay to administer the deal. While Tottenham were annoyed at the tactic as they had met the asking price, they have been separately helped by Hector Bellerin, a former Arsenal defender at Barcelona, appearing willing to move to the Portuguese club, who will need a replacement for Porro to sanction a sale.
Porro has agreed a Tottenham contract until 2028, doubling his wage to around £85,000 a week. He played in Sporting’s 2-0 Portuguese League Cup final defeat to Porto on Saturday and appeared to wave goodbye to the club’s fans after the final whistle. Manchester City are entitled to 30 per cent of the profit on the deal due a clause when they sold him, which has been calculated as £9.7 million (€11 million).
Tottenham have given up 15 per cent of a possible sell-on fee for Marcus Edwards to leave them with 35 per cent and Sporting the rest. Tottenam inserted the sell-on fee when Edwards joined Vitória in 2019 and the clause was carried through when the winger joined Sporting a year ago.
Tottenham are considering a move for a centre back on the final day of the window and should complete the signing of Jude Soonsup-Bell from Chelsea. The striker, 19, has made three appearances for Chelsa and been capped by England at youth level.
Japhet Tanganga, the Spurs defender who started against Preston North End in the FA Cup on Saturday, has interest from Inter Milan for a loan. Bryan Gil has gone back to Sevilla on loan while Djed Spence is set to join Rennes on loan.
