A lot can happen in 6 months though. Bastoni could change his mind and stay on.

Conte could go and we no longer want to go down that avenue.

The problem we have is if we go back 4 too.

I'm not sure Hincapie can play CB in a back 4.

I wouldn't fancy having him and Romero as a partnership for example. Way too aggressive and Hincapie has terrible aerial stats.

Seems like leverkusen are trying to sign a defender but he’s a left back sadly
Well that’s what position hincapie mostly plays for them, so that would actually be a really good sign that there’s at least a 0.00001% chance still here.

I know there is a lot of shouts for a top level CB, which is completely correct, but you have to take into account, a strong offense helps the defense. That Is where the likes of Porro, a fit Deki, a fit Richarlison, all help us move the ball forward. So much of the pressure that leads to goals, often has to do with an inability by our attackers (including wing backs) cant hold on to the ball. Deki is highly underrated in this area. Especially when Son and Kane start as both have games where they easily lose second balls or get marked out of the game when the opponent floods our midfield.

In short: the less pressure our defense is under, the less likely they are to make mistakes.

As i said the other day, with 2 out of our 3 preferred CBs needing upgrading, i'd much prefer if we could get one this window if a suitable option becomes available.

It'd help with the bedding in process of pretty much what could be a whole new defence (Romero aside)

Hincapie walks into our first XI but what we really need is a CCB now. Lenglet and Davies should be enough to plug until end of season but Dier has been catastrophic

I'd have thought Sanchez or Japh would be of interest to them on a loan - dry or otherwise.

Not sure why such a seemingly well run club would want to lose a top player on deadline day though.

Hopefully Levy/Paratici can work some magic.
