Just realised that for the last 30 mins I’ve been singing - from the unconscious or elsewhere!? - the Eagle’s ‘desperado’… “hard to tell the nighttime from the day… “
Haha recurring theme as they just played it on radio 2

Surely this is a deal we could wrap up early so we know he is coming here in summer? But I guess we may wait to see the Bastoni situation and also what the investment is like spurs side.
We certainly could. We could also leave it til 31st August and try to squeeze a few bob out of the deal.
I know which one I'd bet on.

Or we'll do what we did this summer just gone and get bodies in early? Or am I letting recent history cloud my judgement?

I hope so. But I'm also concerned that last summer was the exception, not the rule. My judgement is based on the past 20 years, not 1 transfer window where we acted swiftly.

And it's not even the most recent window; that has just closed with Porro arriving very late on, plus Doherty having to be given away because the club didn't know the rules.

I'm not even considering the possibility we may be replacing our manger and have no DoF, meaning concentrating on transfers will be even more difficult.

Time will tell I guess.

Surely he's only an excellent buy if we are planning to play with wing backs going forward other wise it's a huge gamble to how well he will fit. Going by the last managerial search I doubt very much we know what happens post Conte considering how we always operate in such a reactionary fashion.
Agree. Although isn’t it strange we are so reactionary when Levy by character is an accountant so should be great at planning and future planning.

I suppose there in lies the issue that he does that with the money and stadium and commercial stuff he had great vision for that and NFL partnership etc etc but he has no clue about FOOTBALL so has to be reactive to constantly put out fires because he isn’t and never will be clued up on how to plan and execute for success on the football side and he doesn’t give enough autonomy to those who do know that in order for us to build and execute on a consistent plan.

I'm just a little shocked we seemingly had no interest in Ndicka. Would have been surprised if Eintracht wouldn't have sold him for 15mil.
Frankfurt bought William Pacho (LCB)a few days ago from Belgian team Royal Antwerp (he stays until end of season and will move in the summer)
Also an Ecuador international from 21 , impressing alongside Toby Alderweireld in his first year in Europe and was also wanted by Monaco.

Another very promising CB (RCB) is Zeno Debast from Anderlecht who plays alongside Jan Vertonghen.
Only just 19 years old but already made his debut as Belgian international in the Nations League and went to the WC.
Played as central midfielder in the youth teams so has excellent feet and is 1m91
Anderlecht are in desperate need for money so could be available on the cheap in the summer (scouted by Inter Milan last week)

It's more than that though isn't it. Not getting what we needed now may well be the difference to Conte and Kane staying, meaning we then need to replace a world class CF(which we won't) and also getting a manager in who will want to reassess everything and then change the components to what he wants. Throw in what's happening with Parratici and it could be a mess for another couple of years.

Was at the Lane in November....you could smell the fear in the stadium knowing that THIS scenario was absolutely inevitable if we didn't shore up our defense in the January window......... yep, it was the Leeds game.

Absolutely unforgivable window in my opinion knowing the scenario Trix mentioned above, coupled with a terrible Lloris and even worse combo of Dier and Davies.

Conte and Kane are playing for the FA Cup...the rest is history in my opinion.

Hope I'm totally wrong

Yeah this attitude is starting to get fucking irritating. Another thing that’s looking more and more like something to add to the pile of bullshit that our board feed us with every window
