Messi.

But I would probably choose Ronaldo this time around. I understand why Messi would get it, but I think it'd be a travesty if these awards in the history books didn't show how even a race it actually was. I think Ronaldo should get more recognition for the absolute model pro he is. It's clear that Messi is blessed with the talent, he works hard, but his outrageous ability comes naturally. Ronaldo, IMO anyway, seems like he's had to work a lot harder to reach the level, train harder, make himself stronger. I feel like his talent has been earned more.

I wonder if people will try and give it to a Bayern player as they've been the best team by far in the last 12 months.

If not then I'd probably go for Ronaldo.

Ibra for me, in the form of his life atm and one of the most unique strikers of our generation. He's not better than Messi and Ronaldo, and frankly Ronaldo should win it this time as he truly deserves it, but at 32 Ibra may have peaked now while I still see a lot more from Ronaldo, and greater chances of him winning it in the future. Having said that, Bayern Munich have had an unreal few years and one of their players do deserve it, even if it won't be Ribery.

Surely Ronaldo has to win it at some point? 157 goals in 146 games for real!!!

It is called player of the year and Messi hasnt cut it to be called the best last season or this year

Controversial but anyone but a Bayern player and its a joke they broke 26 team records!!!

They also beat their demons after losing at home to Chelsea

Furthermore Robben was getting booed by the Bayern fans at the start of last season after single handily costing them a league and the CL final.

He then in one season went from a greedy prima donna to selfless teammate who ran his bollocks off for the team and smashed it on the other side of the side pitch

Also I agree about Ibra the guy has a insane record of only missing out on the league title once in a very long time

I wouldn't say 60 goals in 50 games isn't cutting it. For me he's still up in the top 5 stand out players in the world.

Bayern for me are an amazing team but don't have a player of the year contender. I know it sounds daft but they're a team.

Um, didn't Messi score somewhere around 60 goals? Considering he missed quite a few games injured, that is a very impressive tally and more than most strikers get playing full seasons. In what way has he not deserved to be in with a good chance of winning?

Any way, none of the nominees should be there as Adebayor should get it for being the best paid player to not even make the bench.

Messi, even when not at his very best he is still better than everyone else.

If Ronaldo gets it I will have to release the explosive filled homing pigeon I've been training.

I think Ronaldo and Messi are the most talented players and best players playing at the moment but last year Messi didnt have a great year, Barca changed their tactics to help Messi be the focal point of the attack and in turn help him break records like last years most goals in a year but this caused a reliance on him which Pep was unhappy about. The changing of system led for him to be system and they looked lost without him. They won la liga in like February iirc and then after barca didnt do much. Yes he scored 60 goals but alot of them were scored with the goal to break mullers record which he has already won the player of year for tbh because Ronaldo had a much better year before that record was broken.

As for Ronaldo he scored goals as always but the team performance wasnt great, no one considered Falcao for the top 3 when he scored a shit load and won Europa League and Super Cup. So for me the player has to have a great year.

As I said above he won the player of the year for the majority of those goals last year because he was closing on Muller's record, cant give him it two years in a row for one great feat.
