Interested to see what role he’ll play when he does come into first team contention. Not typical of an Ange striker but some physicality and aerial threat off the bench will be really handy. Am quite excited by him as well. Hybrid forwards seem to be more common than pure no.9s these days it’s nice to have one on the books.

To go with this, there's also suggestions from Argentina that Postecoglou has now fully integrated him into the team.
Potential bench spot on Saturday?

Be surprised if he makes the squad this weekend with all of our first team options fit and Johnson being introduced. Hopefully there’ll be an opportunity to play him sometime before Christmas.

We have a couple U21s games this month and though we have really good depth in CF position at that level, would still like to see how Veliz performs with those players. Certainly wouldn't hurt his development as the U21s are playing exactly like the 1st team.

Exciting that we have this guy. If he could come on and get a goal or two this year, that would be fantastic

Ange said he wanted to slowly integrate him and have him get used to the country etc. Training with the first team will be part of that process, but I doubt getting first team minutes was on the cards for September.

Then again, everyone is different and this kid might have just taken things in his stride and is desperate to get on the pitch.

What was the reason he wasn’t able to start until yesterday? I’m assuming it was permit related but I probably missed something.

I'd be surprised if he makes the bench at the moment, with no real injuries to our forward players.

If we go with the same XI as last game, the bench will most likely be: Forster, Davies, Royal, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Perisic, Johnson, Richarlison plus either Dier or Phillips as CB cover.

If Richarlison starts the game, I suppose there might be a chance that Veliz is a sub at the expense of one of Solomon, Perisic or Johnson, as seems overkill to have 3 wingers on the bench.

I’ve got a really good feeling about this lad, think he’s going to be excellent for us. Think there’s a reasonable chance he may make the bench tomorrow.

Would love him on the bench, if we go with the same 11 as last game it leaves us with these obvious 10 as bench options.

Forster
Davies
Phillips/Dier
Emerson
Hojbjerg
Skipp
Perisic
Johnson
Richarlison
Veliz

Would really like him on the bench but realistically I can't see it.

Need a keeper, need Davies as he's our LB/LCB back up. Probably need another CB in Phillips or Dier, Emerson is the RB back up. Probably need both Skipp and PEH as Ange likes to make 2 midfield subs which leave 3 attacking bench options available with will likely be Johnson, Richy and Perisic.
