He did well yesterday. Most of l’Arse’s efforts came down our right flank, though, and he had Rose in good form alongside him. Still, he’s no mug at CB.

I think he looks a better CB than a LB. His positioning was extremely good and should be back up to Verts potentially, depending on physicality of opposition forwards.

Yeah, I wouldn't want him playing CB against Deeney or Austin

Yeah quite amazing how comfortable he looked at CB. I know he plays in a back three for Wales but to step up in an important derby playing 'out of position' deserves praise.

His flexibility makes him a very valuable member of the squad.

He wont be going anywhere for a few seasons.

I've always wanted us to sign a really attacking wing back and move Davies to LCB in a back 3 personally for example Sessegnon and then with Davies you get the best of both worlds where we can essentially work in a back 4 or 3 in the same game.

People forget throughout his career until laudrup brought him back to Swansea he has been a centre half.

Laudrup moved him there

If I remember correctly, he played both positions @ U21/23 but has been used as CB throughout youthlevels at the national team. When Scott Sinclair wen't to Chity to warm the bench, Ben got promoted and I recall Laudrup claiming his future was at CB.

Ben being the book-reading-no-tatoos-lowkey atypical modern footballer, just makes him all the more brilliant in my book - the kind of guy any team needs - unsung heroes that glues the squad together without making a fuzz about it... Just gets the job done more often than not.

Anyways - I love seeing him just going around doing his business - and a bit like Sissokko now getting the recognition from us fans (not that I think it matters to him - a bit like CE in that context).

Aubamayang a big physical guy and so is Barnes and Davies did well up against them both

Aubamayang is not that physical, especially compared to those mentioned. Barnes is physical yes, but Burnley weren't interested in playing football that day so you cannot make a judgement based on that game at least.

I'm not saying he is our first choice CB but I'd not hesitate to have him in when we have injuries and similarly in a back 3 he could partner Toby and Sanchez or Foyth and it would be a strong team. Basically he has given us an extra option at a time when we are really short in defence missing Jan and Sanchez. Very versatile squad player and pretty dependable.

I wasn't aware of this. Although he did break into the Swansea team at 19, so he has been a left back his entire senior career.

Edit: bar Wales of course.

Under estimated by so many of our fans. Has done a great job wherever he has played and hardly ever injured. Great pro.

He’s been playing with an injury for a year. That’s got to explain his drop off in form. Hopefully he’s through it now.

It’s a point that we should be aware of. We aren’t given full information on players, rightly or wrongly. I take Eriksen for example, who’s to say his poor form recently isn’t directly related to his stomach injury problems and the fact he might not have recovered sufficiently from it and it’s impacting his performances.

You wouldn’t put it past the club and management to be playing him and managing him through games as we’ve no alternative.

This would mean that insightful analysis such as "he's shit!!11", "his head is in Madrid!!1", "fuckin bald nonce" should be toned down no matter what player we're talking about. Not sure the world or this forum can live without that.

I shouldn't laugh really but... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

(and I'm thin on top now too so can't be accused of being baldist).
