Think he could be a potentially very interesting signing. I feel like part of Richy’s issues this season have been because neither Son or Kulu (Kulu especially) are particularly good at beating their man and crossing and Anges strikers, based on what I’ve seen of Kyogo’s goals last season, are expected to sit in the box and make runs for crosses and hit first time balls.
Watch even just the first 10 or so of his goals here and see how many are first or second touches. Maybe Johnson can help provide this in a way Kulu especially doesn’t (he likes to cut in on his left) but Son also doesn’t really tend to anymore. Son may end up being the one of the end of these if Richy can’t deliver.

Looks like this will get done. Not completely sold on him but let's hope he can come in prove to be a hit.

Positives
Looks a good athlete and has the ability to carry the ball forward with speed and real intent. Do feel this is something we need.
8 league goals in his first EPL season with a struggling team is not to be sniffed at and is a good return for a young player.

Question marks
Not sure how he'll do up against teams who sit back and cut out space. Doesn't appear to have the super close control and sharp change of direction to combine with his pace that would really panic defenders. Could be wrong but Looks to be someone who is quick once he gets into his stride rather than have super quick acceleration from a standing start that a Mane, Doku or Martinelli type have and makes them a nightmare for defenders to deal with. Ideally was hoping we'd get someone in that mould.

Anyway, now he looks to be on his way let's hope he comes in and does well.

I wondered the same but watched this video yesterday and thought there were quite a few situations where he would be almost at a standstill, squared up against a defender, only for him to produce a burst of pace on the outside and find room for a cross. I really do feel like he has attributes that we are missing on that right side.

From Simon Jones / Daily Mail

Not seen us linked to Georges Mikautadze before? Metz striker who scored 23 in 37 last year (Ligue 2)

Links for Regi to Fulham, Man U and maybe Forest. Maybe Dav Sanchez to Forest and Tanguy to PSG

TRANSFER CONFIDENTIAL: Spurs may offer cash plus players for Johnson to fend off Brentford

SIMON JONES
AUGUST 29, 2023

BRENNAN JOHNSON’S move to Tottenham is expected to take shape after Spurs’ Carabao Cup game at Fulham tonight.
Talks took place at the weekend over a move that Confidential first told you about in July and Tottenham are willing to offer cash plus players.
Some of those potentially available as part of the deal could feature this evening and the game will give Steve Cooper the chance to assess who could fit in with his Nottingham Forest side.
Brentford have not gone away, either. They made another approach for Johnson at the end of last week after bids up to £40m were rejected earlier in the window and a £34m offer for Nicolas Gonzalez was dismissed by Fiorentina.
Meanwhile, Spurs were among the clubs in attendance for Metz’s trip to Clermont Foot on Sunday, where another potential target, Georges Mikautadze, scored the winner for the visitors.

Dier set to defy Ange and stay put for a year

TOTTENHAM are looking to offload a number of their squad before Friday’s 11pm deadline but defender ERIC DIER would prefer to see out his contract and leave as a free agent next year.
FULHAM are among the clubs to have considered the England international (pictured), who has dropped down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou following the arrival of Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg.
Tottenham are hoping to shed a number of other squad players.
One is left back SERGIO REGUILON, amid interest from Fulham, Manchester United — to a lesser degree — and Nottingham Forest. DAVINSON SANCHEZ is another who has drawn interest from Forest, Fulham and Monaco, while Argentina midfielder GIOVANI LO CELSO has caught Napoli’s eye.
One surprise could be PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN returning for midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.PSG have asked about the 26-year-old in each of the last three windows and are considering another bid.
From a financial POV it may make sense but I will never understand why a player is prepared to throw away a year of their career in what is already a short playing career

His ability to knock it past defenders and sprint onto the ball gives me Bale vibes. Looking forward to having some pace up top again!

He has excellent balance even when running at high speed.

Think he will be an excellent signing personally

100% this. The ITK points to finding players with a particular set of skills. Ange & his team are building. We’re gonna see sexy get-to-the-byline cutbacks aplenty this season and tap-in net-busters. Can’t wait 😜

What's that got to do with anything? We sold him for a somewhat large fee and so far we've replaced his quality up top with Solomon and what looks to be Brennan Johnson. How can anyone actually be happy with that? What's the point of Levy haggling with Bayern for ages so that we could get the best deal possible to then not buy a high quality forward? That's my issue.
You’re literally comparing the amount of money we got for Kane with the amount potentially spending on Johnson. So it’s pretty much everything to do with the words in your previous post.

Richy is definitely capable of crossing the ball in and has for Sarr's goal already.

Watching that shows how much we need pace up top for me. That and directness.

Danjuma was signed in last week of Jan, as a loan signing when Conte already lost interest and we were already a divided club as per Romero.

Spence was personally scouted by Paratici like he did with others. Some work some dont. Conte didnt want Spence we pushed it anyway. That was a mistake from club. Spence wasnt questioned by fans then because they could see a player. Problem with him, is his attitude. So, theres always going to be hit or miss.

IMO, you are giving too much credence to Spence & Danjuma in this context

As for as you are not convinced by Gold. Fair enough. But if thats the case, no one can convince every body.

These 'Club signings' pushed by Levy isnt good - But for me, there is a limit on being disheartended by it. Conte didnt want Spence but we still pushed it , its absolutely wrong. We are pushing Johnson and Ange is fine with him as option - then we should go along as well. In this case too, its Paratici probably on Levy's years.

Personally I dont see any downside risk. For me, he has proven enough in Championship & PL to suggest he will work for us. Even if he doesnt, we could sell him for decent money even if he has a avergage season
This is really down to which source you trust and believe.

We had this summer a crystal clear message from one of our resident ITKs that Spence was a 100% club acquisition (Levy and the board). That Paratici was sent to personally scout him was explained as “when your boss tell you to do your job, you do it”. And that him and our scouting department advised against Spence.

We were told it was David Pleat that was in Levy’s ear at the time. Just as he was when we decided on going for Dele. When someone can pick Dele, that someone will have a certain level of clout. You win some and you lose some.
