Not saying these are the only two scenarios at play but there could well be a choice between;
- including Sanchez in the Johnson deal to make it more palatable.
- sell Sanchez to Monaco to the help facilitate a Tosin/Dier switch

Of course, we could just stump up the readies for Johnson but would appear that we need Forest to capitulate on their price as opposed to us meeting their demands.

This thread has some footage of all Johnson's touches against Brighton and Newcastle last season for those who want to watch:

Unfortunately it doesn't really wet the appetite but worth a watch for anyone that wants to see what he's like.

Alternatively, include Sanchez in the Johnson deal and sign a CB because we're not fucking poor.

Might be the least inspiring set of full match highlights I've seen this window. I know everyone's clamouring for a signing but I really don't see Johnson getting anywhere near our first team TBH and spending half the Kane money on him is just bizarre.

Yeah it's certainly not very inspiring.

Obviously we have to allow for the fact that he isn't exactly getting the ball much or in decent positions. I do have a lot of concerns over his touch though and his general presence as a wide player. I'd hope for tighter control and technique from a wide player if they want to become a CL level player.

When he receives the ball you don't get that feeling of danger that you tend to get when real quality attackers get the ball.

Also it's easy to blame the system but becomes much trickier when Gibbs-White is spraying balls around left right and centre and looks quality right next to Johnson. I do think individual quality shines through regardless of how good your team is, and I'm not seeing much individual quality from Johnson either from those highlights or frankly from whenever I watched him last season.

Thanks for that. Must say that was rather uninspiring. On a side note tho he looks like he would have been good as a WB in Conte’s system.

That is a good point.

If Ange wants him and we can do a deal at £25-30m Plus Sanchez, then fair enough. Otherwise i'm a bit 'MEH' about this signing and would probably prefer we keep our powder dry and spend the money on an upgrade to Richarlison.

From ITK today it seems the only player he really wants is Gallagher. The rest he’s fine to go with the scouting department

Negotiations with Spurs are currently at an impasse because of Forest’s valuation of Johnson at £50million.

Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s chairman, is reluctant to pay so much and, with Brentford backing off from their long-term pursuit of Johnson, that means a financial compromise will have to be found for a deal to happen.

However, Sangare’s potential availability has been known to a number of Europe’s top clubs and Forest have always realised he was an ambitious target who may have aspirations of joining a higher-ranking team.

As talks continue, however, it may all become hypothetical anyway unless a deal for Johnson happens.

Evangelos Marinakis, the Forest owner, has taken charge of the process, along with his son, Miltiadis, and is willing to sell Johnson as long as he thinks the money is right. If not, Forest are prepared to keep the Wales international and that would make a possible transfer for Sangare extremely difficult for a club that wants to remain on the right side of the financial fair-play rules.

I just really want to know what the scouts see in him. Or what stats they look at that make them believe he has a lot of untapped potential. Personally I’ve never been particularly impressed with him but I’m no expert and I obviously am not privy to the data. Brentford obviously rate him so there must be something but I am unconvinced as I don’t really know what he excels at.

Had the same sort of feelings about Sess when we signed him, great athlete but I didn’t see what he was good at. Obv Johnson is more developed then Sess is/was and he has more to his game but idk, I just really struggle to see why so many on here like him so much and are so convinced he would be a good signing. But I take it as a positive that that so many do. I really do hope that I am completely wrong about him.
