He’s just very…. Ehhhh?

I can’t see what on earth possessed the club to part with such a significant amount of money for him. He’s all pace and nothing else. Doesn’t even have the guts to go into challenges.

Home grown would’ve played a significant part in that decision. He also scored a lot of goals for a mediocre Forest team. He needs to be given more time, but he wasn’t really what we needed to spend half the Kane money on. We needed immediate top quality (which we managed to sign in every other position this summer).

Don’t really hear this expression in football anymore, but so far he epitomises the player who “flatters to deceive”.

I'm not going to write him off as he shows flashes of potential but for roughly the same fee we could have got Kudus who is just one year older, quite a bit better already and has probably more levels to reach (Kudus looking great in Moyes's sit back and counter system would probably be even better in Ange's system of being on the front foot).

Johnson's main issue right now is his finishing. He shoots quite wayward and weak if that makes sense. You see players who have a lot of power behind their shots but no accuracy (remember Sissoko) but Johnson shots even on target don't look like they threaten goalies. Plus he goes for the side foot technique a lot I notice.

He was miles better than son, but son was the worst player in the pitch for me tonight - absolute toilet
The whole team bar the goalkeeper were diabolical for 80 minutes. I would give him a bit more time before being to critical of him.

He's got alot of potential, he's fast, has a decent first touch, but he also seems to panic a bit when it comes to the end product. He's also quite timid and definitely backs out from challenges, and he doesn't track back much either.

He needs alot more time to develop into a top player, which I am sure he will. But currently he's just a right sided sessegnon, lacks that hunger and bite in his play.

Agree with the others here that he lacks an intensity to his game, which can be very frustrating to watch.

However on the plus, it could be a relatively easy thing to fix, just need to be a bit more committed and cold blooded and he's a real player in this team.

He's got a touch of Sessegnon about him at the moment where he just seems overwhelmed and hesitant. I do think there's plenty for the coaches to work with though and he'll eventually be a huge asset once he develops more of a killer instinct with his final ball.

Great bench option but raw young player, not a starter for a team with top 4 aspirations.
I think this is it for me at the moment. That doesn’t mean he won’t be a worthy starter in time but at his current level I think he’d be perfect for the bench role, someone who can come on and stretch a tired defence with his blistering pace.

In general I don’t think he was necessarily what we needed, we should have gone for someone stronger 1v1 which is something still significantly lacking from our front line. But that doesn’t mean he’s bad or can’t be a valuable asset to the squad. He needs patience and time to develop.

Think he'll be fine. The talent is there he just lacks decision making and conviction. Probably psychological as much as anything else but I don't see anything there that can't be worked on and improved with time.

Given the PL market and homegrown inflation, do you think we could recoup most of the 50 mil if we decided to cut our losses in the summer?

I think it’s way premature to even consider selling. I actually thought he had a better game today than he did on Saturday vs Everton, but the final action let him down.

I’m not totally convinced by him but I’ll judge him more after a full season and hopefully playing alongside a few more first teamers in Bentancur and Maddison etc. He was better than Son and Kulu tonight

What does he offer? With a fully fit squad he's on the bench and gets 15 minutes at best.

I'm not seeing it. I've tried and I'm normally fairly positive with players. I thought he was woeful tonight. Not for the first time.

When he went off and Kulu concentrated on the right. The front clicked more. With 10 mins to go.....

This was against a significantly weakened Brighton side with no recognised full back?

He wasn't alone today. But he stood out to me as one of the worst.

He is fine but needs to be properly managed. Throwing him into starting 11 week in week out might not be the best for him.

He'll be fine.
