Would love to be proved wrong but can't see him making it with us.

At least while we have Conte as manager.
I agree. I think loaning him out would be good for him but has to be PL otherwise there wont be a chance for him to prove that he is good enough

Managers don’t last forever. We get Conte maybe 2-3 more years tops. This kid is talented. Potentially looking at another Mourinho/Chelsea situation where a young Dr Bruyne and Salah were outcasted because they didn’t have immediate success. Keep him on the books, let him keep developing with loans, and who knows the next manager might be a big fan.

Agree that loaning Gil to a team like Brentford would be ideal but it’s quite rare for non English players to get loaned out within the PL. Last year we had players like Gallagher, Borja and Gilmore doing loans within the PL but can’t really think of many, if any international loans within the league

That's all very well but that's what Chelsea wanted to do with de Bruyne and he wasn't having any of it and refused to go on loan again. It was him that wanted out.

Broja comes to mind, but agree, it’s not common place.

I think Perisic should serve as inspiration to any player written off by Conte and going on loan. If you go away, work hard and come back and prove yourself the door is still open. I don’t remember Gil being specifically written off by Conte, more just that he was looking for players that were ready for the league. It was also mid season and their wasn’t the time to spend developing a player.

We all know Gil is physically under-developed but I was also impressed by his work rate. I’m curious how he will do in a Conte pre-season. I think he has some skills that few in our team have and could be a creative option if he can learn and grow. Even the. He could get sent away for another season on loan but it needs to be somewhere where he can show growth. Back to Spain isn’t a great option.

Until his stats improve/end product we can’t have him as an option in the squad. We need better for right now. More Peresic’s and less Clarkes.

Sorry to say ( because he’s clearly talented ) I don’t think he has a future with us, especially under Conte. I think he’s getting loans in Spain to put him in the shop window over there.

But the "shop window" in Spain at the moment is mostly, wow that's a beautiful necklace, obviously I can't afford it, do you do rentals?

I think Gil is every bit as talented (if not more so) than Gordon who we were linked with, just needs regular game times to aid in his development, and to add a bit of physicality/size. He has a high ceiling as wing forward or a playmaker/trequartista type. A loan to the likes of Brentford would be ideal.

He gave an interview while on loan saying he was aware of the need for him to bulk up physically before coming back and was working on it. I'm interested to see how successful he's been with that. Who knows Conte may think he is more capable of playing in the PL now.

If we have long term plans to keep Gil then surely he needs a loan in this country . Sending him back to Spain won’t help his development and get him physically ready to play in the premier league .

Yup. It seems like PL clubs generally are less likely to accept loans without an option to buy, as they presumably may not be interested in merely developing other clubs’ players.

That’s not true. Chelsea have had no problem loaning players to other PL clubs without an option to buy. Lukaku, Borja, Loftus-Cheek, Gilmour and Gallagher are some that spring to mind.

more so that Gordon !! - but Gil has done nothing in English football looking largely lightweight and peripheral figure in games- he has some ability on the ball but its hard to see where he fits a Conte side and if your looking at loans ask yourself as a manager of a bottom half premier league club do you fancy Gil a bit of luxury player unproven in England I can't see who would fancy him so for a loan or a transfer he has to go back to the continent - what's the point of us keeping a player when we aren't going to be playing a nbr 10 or wingers and he is sixth best forward if that - not necessarily a bad player but there is no path for him

When he finds his feet Bryan Gil will be every bit as good as Bernardo Silva or even David Silva. He will mature and be an absolute star. He can do it at Spurs under Conte.

I’d imagine Conte will give all of Gil, Lo Celso and NDombele a fresh look in pre-season until they are officially sold/loaned. Crazier things have happened than a player turning it around at a club when they looked set to leave. Gil prob best placed to convince.
