Assuming Bentancur is out for City I'd start the same line up as against Villa just with Biss in at DM and yes I'd give Gil another start.

Re the elbow - he has to go down and stay down for a few minutes to really draw attention to it. Would not be surprised to learn that VAR were focussing on the handball and totally missed the elbow.
He lost possession that led to their free kick for the equaliser - but that's part of how Ange wants us to play.
His workrate was good, not convinced he will ever be a standout Prem player, but also accept he has not really had a run of games to prove himself one way or the other.

VAR wasnt focusing on anything. It was down due to a technical issue

It was his only 2nd start for home league game at Spurs and it's been 2,5 years :ROFLMAO:

I'd understood at the time that the issue was getting the feed back to the refereeing team at the ground so, again, we have the ridiculous situation where the VAR officials have seen a clear and obvious error but aren't able to get the message to the referee. I'll be interested to hear what Howard Webb has to say about it in due course but, at the very least, Spurs are due an acknowledgement/apology.

I think the comparison to Bernardo Silva was about right. I wonder if the Maddison role could be a better one for him. Maybe with Lo Celso as an 8. He has the technical ability in close quarters but doesn't really get away from his man. Still not sure his best position but good to see him get some minutes. We will only find out if he gets match time and with all the injuries now is the time.

Sarr should be back so has to start that one with Kulusevski back in the right forward role. So I would have to drop Gil and have Johnson on the left. He should get a 20-30 mins spell off the bench though.

He's similar to playing style but Bernardo Silva played with a level of intelligence and vision far greater than most players including Gil, changing Gils position isnt going to put him anywhere near the same level.

Thought he had a decent game yesterday and would expect him to get better with a run of games but would also echo others in that in i dont think his ceiling is high enough to earn a starting berth, or first back up off the bench, at the level we want to be competing at (top 4 and in the champions league).... tidy again echoing others but not excelling in anything.

I think people are really going overboard with this vision and final product stuff

He had only Son to aim for and Son was a marked man, it needed a perfect pass to find him

Their defence never collapsed, unlike most of sons goals there is an element of defence being drawn to the ball player Gil had no space and was lucky to get a ball in

He did OK when you consider this was his first PL game in over a year and his first real game of any kind this season. Of course his confidence is not gonna be super big, which is so important for a creative player. Jury's still out overall, and I imagine with hopefully Bissouma and Sarr back for City, he'll be back on the bench.

Best left sided performance of the season so far. Better than Solomons given , better than Johnson’s given , better than Richarlisons given. All after hardly playing for months. Lots of promise to build on. Needs a run.

I think it depends how Sarr is, I don't think its a forgone conclusion he will be fully match fit by then especially if its true that his issue is with his hamstring. I also really liked the balance of Gio and Kulu in the centre and one could possibly argue that playing central brought out the best of Kulu. The way he talked about it post match certainly indicates that he loves playing there. We shall see but i'll be very surprised if Sarr starts considering he didn't even make the bench on the weekend.

Solomon away to Burnley was better as was Johnson away to Arsenal and home to Chelsea.
Gil had a decent game especially considering it was his first start under Ange and hadn't played for months as you say but sorry I disagree that was the best left sided performance of our season so far, it just about makes the top 5.

I disagree. Johnson v Chelsea was a 30 minute cameo so can’t really be compared. Yes he looked good against Arsenal in spells, but my issue with him is whilst he has obvious talent, right now I would expect more workrate from him, I would also expect better decision making. I thought both were very poor yesterday so maybe that skewed my judgement. Solomon v Burnley, maybe, although I still think Gil for me was instrumental to probably some our best play of the season yesterday. I was impressed.

He's not been out long and they said he was 50/50 for the game so I would think he's OK. Good to have the options though. Personally I thought Kulusevski looked more threatening when he moved to the right and Johnson looked better on the left.

Thought he looked a better 'technical' footballer than the 3 mentioned above. Was fairly impressed with his touch and ability to manoeuvre the ball in tight areas. Doesn't necessarily translate as him being the best option out wide but certainly worth a run of games to see how he gets on. No doubt he has his physical limitations but he does appear to have a good engine on him and think will will want to see how he does over a run of games.

Silva has about 7 years on him though. I think we're yet to see the intelligence he will develop. Having him play with first team players on his wavelength will help. Same as with GLC.

Like the boy.
Willing and able
quick and positive mostly.
Takes the knocks
and was intrinsic in the move
down the left that set up Son
for an offside goal.
Would like to see him make it
but don't think he will.
Too lightweight, literally
Useful squad player maybe.
