Looks an exciting talent. Most ball carries last season 2nd only to Messi!

Spurs fans want exciting football and players, well Gil will give us that excitement for sure.

Left footed, mainly plays on the LW but can also play RW and cut inside, lots of little quick passes and moves type player, actually very similar in style to Messi tbh but doesn't score anywhere near as many goals but very creative tricky little ball player.

Fans will love this guy, he will open up spaces for other players.

Glad someone else got in with the Messi comparison first. Obviously he isn't at that level of consistent end product, but if you watch his style he keeps the ball very close in possession with low centre of gravity, draws the challenge and then nicks it away or deceives with a great body swerve. Absolutely loves a nutmeg and doesn't wait for the opponent to come to him, he just drives at them forcing a decision. Coming in off the left he goes outside the FB to the line a lot and hangs the cross up up at the far post. Kane could expect a good few back post nod-ins if they get game time together.

I think he's going to become a fans' favourite very quickly.

Huh? He started 26 games in La Liga for Eibar last season alone.
I mean that’s just not true. He’s played over 50 games in La Liga and has 87 all comps at club level and then he has his international caps including 3 for the senior Spain squad. Not sure where you’ve read that.
Think you may be wrong about that one. Its actually 54 league games he has played in the last 3 seasons.

My bad, I didn't notice he played for Eibar. I was just looking a Seville! As you were ?

Surely the exact type of signing we love?
Young, exciting prospect with plenty of potential and a "bums off seats" type player.
Very happy with this one.

Love this signing. I don't recommend we roll out the Messi comparisons, ever. Gil is just starting out in his career and Messi is arguably the greatest dribbler of all time, and perhaps the greatest ever player.

I don't think it's wrong to say that Gil has a similar dribbling *style* to Messi. But I'd completely agree that we mustn't start suggesting he has the same potential, or that he's going to emulate him. It's just a way at the minute to help visualise the type of player we've signed.

It’s hard to resist when a diminutive left footed dribbler comes along. From what I’ve seen of Gil I think Neto would be a good comparison. Think he’s very direct and wants to beat his man and make in roads into the opposition box and by-line rather than operate in between the lines.

Just watching this. Have to say I don't see any worries about his physicality. Seems to be happy to get back and defend and put himself about. Great turn of pace, drop of the shoulder. He seems like the get bums off seats kind of player. And we know Spurs are traditionally a club for these players.

For £40 million spondoolies I doubt the odd cup game is the intention.

Does that include the value of Lamela? The reported fee is 25M Euros + Lamela. Which I think values Lamela at ~20M Euros. (45M Euros = £40M). Which all sounds kinda about right.
