If he goes I won't be upset at this stage.

He should take a long hard look at himself. He hasn't played anywhere close to how he can play. Now that could be burn out but he's looked well off it for about 6 months so I don't see that as the issue. Then he should look at someone like Hazard who also looks like he's leaving and see how he performed not only in the EL final but throughout the last season. That's how a player leaves a legacy at a club.

He reminds me so much of Ozil now. Shirking responsibility. No desire or heart or will. It said it all for me when Danny Rose was taking the corners last night.

He's not been good for a while but yet he keeps getting assists. He would be a loss but I won't be upset to see him go if we can get the right replacement. I feel he wants out as well.

3rd most assists in the league having played less games than the top two.

Let’s not pretend losing him won’t be a loss.

It absolutely will be but I just get the feeling that both parties need a change. We need to cash in rather than losing him on a free and he needs a new challenge.

I agree the timing might be right for him to move on.

The player replacing him has a big hole to fill.

Agree with a few sentiments here. I appreciate what he's done and what he can bring but there's a spark that's missing. I think that providing we bring in a creative midfielder that is young and eager to learn and impress then we won't miss Christian as much, should he move on. For quite a few months now I've felt he's been part of the problem when it comes to our slow build up play and lack of real bite in the final third. Sure, he has the ability to make that killer pass or cross but he looked like he was playing it safe last night. A few moments he chose a safer option going back or sideways instead of trying to feed it through. It's very difficult because he could easily move on and be world class elsewhere with top quality players around him, but I feel both parties need something new here.

Of course, having said that I'd be happy to keep him. Just feel we need another creative option regardless should he continue this way. Lamela is probably the other player who can pass like that, and sometimes Dele, but the former is too injury prone and neither are consistent enough.

12 assists in 35 games really isn't good enough for a player who up until last night was taking the bulk of our corners and free kicks.

11 in 37 last season
15 in 36 the season before
15 in 35 the season before that.

Those last 2 are more what you'd expect from a player of his supposed calibre but he has not been good enough this last 6 months. Sure he'd be a loss, not disputing it. But not as big a loss as some people think

I think the size of the loss will depend on who replaces him.

None of the current squad are the right fit to be his successor.

My feeling with Eriksen is that he's not a Modric type that will get a hold of the game from central positions. Why?

He doesn't like receiving the ball in tight spaces with the opposition surrounding him. Countless times I've seen him panic when being pressed and try flick the ball away. For a player so technically gifted he doesnt trust his ability enough in those instances. His best position is always in the pocket as close to Kane as possible, as he's able to get his head up and do something.

For this reason I'd love to see someone like Lo Celso or Ndombele just behind him pulling the strings and allowing him to just focus on finding space.

I honestly think he's just scared of getting a knock. He shirks physicality at all costs. He'd rather get rid of the ball as quickly as possible than take a good old fashioned tackle.

There's a reason he doesn't get injured much.

I would agree.

But selling him could also allow us to change our system. We have been to reliant on Eriksen playing well to allow our other players to play well. Like Liverpool when they lost Coutinho they changed the way they played and look at them. They don't have a creator but they overload the box and batter most teams they play because of it. Every attack we have goes through Eriksen for the most part. It's predictable. We need to stop being that way.

Can't believe some of the recent posts on Eriksen. He is a top quality player who will be very very difficult to replace when he leaves. His work rate is phenomenal on top of his undoubted passing ability and his goal scoring. He is three players rolled into one. Perhaps if he hadn't had to play almost every game in the past season he would have had done even better.

He does seem to be scared of contact. I'd like to see him try play for a foul sometimes, he can definitely do it but rather than that he just tries to pass it to no-one in particular and sceed possession.

It's why he'll never be a real CM. The likes of Modric and Winks use the contact from the opposition to their strength.

in real terms, Eriksen has been brilliant for us. although his recent performances have dipped.

its a shame though, that if his head is already gone elsewhere, that he couldn’t step up and drive us to glory last night in the way that Hazard did for the blue scum.

It’s an interesting thought.

On paper Alli, Son and Lamela behind Kane should work but we look toothless when we have tried it.

I think we will look more dangerous if we can get quality full backs stretching the opposition’s defence like when we had Walker and Rose.

An extra passer in midfield could be a big difference as well.
